Following last week’s engagement at SJK(C) Nan Yik 'Lee Rubber', Ms Karen and Ms Lim Chuan Tze visited SJK(C) Naam Kheung in Kuala Lumpur this morning to conduct a session titled “When Stress Comes Knocking: Understanding Anxiety and Learning to Care for Ourselves” for 793 Year 4 to Year 6 students. They were accompanied by assistant teacher Ms Jennifer.

The session opened with a simple yet relatable analogy introduced by Ms Lim—“carrying a school bag”. Students were invited to reflect on the “weight” they carry in their daily lives, much like the items in a heavy school bag. Through this, they came to recognise that stress is a natural and inevitable part of life, and that the key lies in how we respond to it.

Drawing on the orange character from the animated film "Inside Out 2", Ms Lim guided students to understand anxiety and its function. By connecting with the familiar storyline, students were able to visualise what happens in the mind when anxiety arises, and how repeated “What if…?” thoughts can take hold, affecting our effectiveness.

Ms Karen then led a body scan exercise, helping students become aware of how anxiety manifests in the body. This was followed by the introduction of the "A.B.C. Three Steps for Managing Anxiety": A (Acknowledge), recognising the signs of anxiety; B (Breathe), using breathing method to return to the present moment; and C (Choose), directing attention towards what is within one’s control and taking constructive action.

Towards the end of the session, students responded enthusiastically, calling out the key takeaways they had learned, bringing the session to a strong and meaningful close. The session concluded successfully at 12:00 noon.

Our organisation continues to promote holistic life education programmes in schools, covering areas such as stress management, emotional competence, interpersonal relationships, self-exploration, and digital literacy. We offer a range of talks and workshops, and welcome collaboration with schools. For enquiries, please contact 016-331 8763.

【AKASHA 800 Units Fundraising Initiative | 2026】

This time, we are not talking about expansion or growth.

We are only talking about one simple, honest need — to allow life-centred accompaniment work to continue to exist.

Over the past five months, we have walked through a difficult journey. And in every moment of asking, we came to realise something:

Some people are willing to support not an organisation, but the possibility that no life is left behind.

In 2026, we are choosing a more sustainable way to move forward. We are launching — *the “AKASHA 800 Units Fundraising Initiative.”*

This is not about scaling up. It is about building a foundation that allows this work to keep breathing.

——

🌱【Our Goal】

* 800 monthly units (annual total) = RM80,000
* 15 annual units (annual total) = RM45,000

——

🌱【How You Can Join】

▍Monthly Units
RM100 per unit
* 1 month | 1 unit (RM100)
* 3 months | 3 units (RM300)
* 6 months | 6 units (RM600)
* 12 months | 12 units (RM1200)

▍Annual Units
* 1 year RM3000

▍One-time Support
You may contribute at any time, in any way you feel called to.

——

🌱【What Will Your Support Sustain?】

Not bigger events, but the continuation of what must not stop:

* Life education programmes
* Ongoing accompaniment and support systems
* A place for those who are struggling to return to

We are not creating miracles. We are simply doing our best to make sure no one is left behind.

——

📅 Recruitment closes: 30 June 2026

If you feel moved, we invite you to take up one unit and become part of what keeps this work alive.
This is not just a donation. This is a journey of walking together.

This morning, our Life Teacher Assistants, Ms Karen and Ms Lim Chuan Tze, were invited to SJK(C) Nan Yik 'Lee Rubber' in Kuala Lumpur to conduct an emotional awareness session for 77 Year 4 to Year 6 students. They were supported by three assistant teachers—Ms Weny, Ms Lim Kai Leng, and Ms Jennifer.

The session began with an engaging activity led by Ms Karen, where students explored the four core emotions—joy, anger, sadness, and fear—through drawings, symbols, and colours, allowing emotions to become visible and relatable. Through guided sharing, students came to understand that while people may experience the same emotions, the underlying reasons can differ, yet these feelings are universally shared. They were also introduced to a wider range of emotional vocabulary, enabling them to express their inner experiences with greater clarity and precision.

Ms Lim then led a mindfulness practice, gently guiding students to become aware of how emotions are experienced within the body. Students were further guided to recognise that each emotion carries its own function and meaning, rather than being labelled as right or wrong.

Building on this, Ms Karen introduced a practical approach to emotional regulation—the "4A Formula for Accompanying Emotions", encouraging students to stay present with their emotions and care for themselves through each moment. She concluded by highlighting the "Three No's" principle: do not harm oneself, do not harm others, and do not damage things of value.

The session concluded at 12:30 pm. It is our hope that students will come to see emotions as they would the weather—ever-changing and natural. Emotions themselves are not the issue; what truly matters is how we come to understand and work with them.

44 — Afterword | A Future Made Possible by You

By Nandor Lim

Over these five weeks, we have journeyed together—from getting to know AKASHA, understanding the values we stand for, facing financial realities, to witnessing our work in action and our commitment to sustainability.

Through this journey, we sincerely hope you have felt this: AKASHA is not merely an organisation. It is a commitment.

A commitment that says: no one in this society needs to face life alone, and every life deserves to be seen and accompanied.

Yet a commitment does not sustain itself. How far we can go into the future depends not on how much we say, but on whether we are willing to walk together.

When you choose to support AKASHA, you are not only offering resources. You are taking part in creating a society with greater care, connection, and possibility.

May you walk with us, and together, make the future possible—because of you.

43 — The Long Cycle of Life’s Impact

By Nandor Lim

AKASHA’s work has never been about short-term applause. It is about nurturing a long and gentle cycle of life’s impact.

When a person is deeply touched through an experience, the change rarely stops with the individual alone. It gradually reaches family members, friends, and even the wider community. Such influence may not be immediately visible, but it quietly continues from one generation to the next. What we do may seem small, yet it carries the power to expand and endure.

As an old Chinese saying reminds us: “Do not neglect small acts of goodness, and do not commit small acts of harm.” This principle lies at the heart of AKASHA’s practice. We believe that no act of kindness is too small to matter, and no harm is too insignificant to ignore. It is a way of life that emphasises accumulation, awareness, and responsibility in everyday choices.

This life-centred work may appear modest. It does not seek dramatic achievements or extraordinary recognition. At its core, it is simply about accompaniment—placing human life at the centre and walking alongside people through the difficulties and uncertainties that are an inevitable part of being alive.

Our understanding is deeply pragmatic: Life having problems is a universal condition.

Problems are not personal failures, nor burdens that can be shifted onto others. To live is to face challenges. The difference lies in whether one has to face them alone.

AKASHA strives to help build a society where emotional armour can be gently set aside—a space where people are met with understanding and companionship, rather than expectations of constant strength.

Fundraising Call: Sustainability, for us, is not only about financial stability or systems. It is about the continuity of life’s impact. Your support allows this cycle to keep flowing, enabling more people to find inspiration, companionship, and hope through AKASHA.

42 — Collaborating with Society

By Nandor Lim

Sustainable development cannot be achieved alone. It requires collaboration across sectors. AKASHA actively builds connections with schools, community organisations, media, and businesses, because we believe that only through cross-sector cooperation can the value of life education reach wider communities.

The world cannot be governed or managed through a single model. Beyond government (the First Sector) and business (the Second Sector), there exists a vital Third Sector — also known as the voluntary or non-profit sector. Composed of citizen-led, non-profit organisations, this sector includes NGOs, NPOs, foundations, associations, and academic societies. Its primary mode of operation is communication and persuasion, addressing gaps left by government and the market.

When the three sectors collaborate effectively, social and economic development can reinforce one another. The First Sector (government) is power-based, producing order and public goods. The Second Sector (business) is capital-based, generating goods and services. The Third Sector (non-profit) is service-based, playing a crucial role in education, healthcare, charity, and culture.

When cooperation is built on mutual respect and equality, the three sectors exchange their core capacities and generate collective outcomes — collaboration rather than competition.

Fundraising Call: For AKASHA, these partnerships are more than resource-sharing; they are an accumulation of social momentum. When we walk together with society, our work can travel further. Supporting AKASHA means becoming part of this collaborative network.

41 — Building Sustainable Systems

By Nandor Lim

We know this clearly: sustainability cannot rely on passion alone. Passion can ignite a spark, but only systems allow a fire to keep burning.

That is why AKASHA is intentionally building foundations that can endure — including teaching resource libraries, volunteer training programs, and operational manuals — so that our values do not remain locked within a few individuals, but can be learned, shared, and passed on.

In our understanding, AKASHA operates through two interconnected systems: the human organism and the organisation.

The organism refers to people. Each person is a living system — capable of growth, perception, movement, and renewal. Life sustains itself through balance (homeostasis), metabolism, and continuity, adapting constantly to its environment.

The organisation, on the other hand, is the structure that allows collective life to function. Through shared goals, role differentiation, hierarchical order, and clear processes, it enables coordination and continuity beyond any single individual.

What AKASHA seeks is the alignment between people as living organisms and the organisation as a supporting structure. This alignment rests on several key principles:

First, inheritance and order -- Through cultural memory, lived experience, and learning traditions, essential values are preserved and transmitted.

Second, structural hierarchy -- From chaos to order, from individuals to community, structure provides stability for sustained action.

Third, the unity of structure and function -- It is through clear organisation that complex work becomes possible, allowing both people and systems to evolve over time.

Fourth, interaction with the environment -- People and organisations grow through continuous interaction with social realities, cultural contexts, and changing conditions.

When these systems mature, the work can continue even when individuals change. This is our vision of sustainability — not dependence on a few, but values carried by systems.

Fundraising Call: Your support helps us strengthen these foundations, so that life-centred accompaniment can continue into the future.
