THE CITY OF KUALA KEDAH
古城吉打州 哥打古邦市,又称为哥打古巴央市,是由马来族建造的历史古城,位于吉打州哥打巴鲁市。
哥打古邦市的宏伟城门是由已故苏丹阿都拉穆卡兰·沙二世(Sultan Abdullah Mukarram Shah II)下令建造的,他是已故苏丹穆罕默德·吉瓦·再纳阿丁·穆阿赞·沙(Sultan Muhammad Jiwa Zainal Adilin Muazzam Shah)的儿子(1778-1789年)。城门的建造始于10 Safar 1185H(公元1771年5月),并于1194H(公元1780年)在苏丹阿哈迈德·塔久丁(Sultan Ahmad Tajuddin)执政时完成,他是苏丹阿都拉穆卡兰·沙二世的儿子。
该城市的设计由当时担任大拿瓦麦哈拉卡迪(Dato' Maharaja Kadhi)职务的哈菲兹·萨布(Hafiz Sab)绘制,而熟练的工匠则是从印度引进的。
在面向Alor Melaka的东墙上,建有一座被称为“Kadapuri Gate”的城门,由英国人建造。

The city of Kuala Kedah
Kota Kuala Kedah also known as Kota Kuala Bahang is a historic city built by the Malays located in the State of Kedah, Kota Setar.
The big gate of the city of Kuala Kedah was built on the orders of the late Sultan Abdullah Mukarram Shah II son of the late Sultan Muhammad Jiwa Zainal Adilin Muazzam Shah (1778-1789) and started from 10 Safar 1185H (May 1771 AD) and completed in the year 1194H (1780 AD) during the reign Sultan Ahmad Tajuddin son of Sultan Abdullah Mukarram Shah II.
The design of this city was drawn by Hafiz Sab who at that time held the position of Dato' Maharaja Kadhi. While the skilled craftsmen were brought from India.
A gate has been built on the eastern wall facing Alor Melaka known as "Kadapuri Gate" built by the British.
The construction process began in 1771 and was completed in 1780. Located on the edge of the Kedah River.
His Majesty resided here in 1803. In 1909 when Kedah was officially placed under the control of the British, several government offices were built in this city area, including a lighthouse. A new gate was built that exists to this day. During the Japanese occupation of Malaya, this city was used as a military base until their defeat by the British in 1945.
On 31 August 1978, the city was gazetted by the Department of Museums and Antiquities (now the Department of Museum Malaysia) as a "Historic Site" in accordance with the provisions of the "Antiquities Act 1976" under act 165.
The purpose of its construction is to be used as a defensive fortress against enemy attacks, especially Siamese attacks from the sea. The Japanese army also once used this city as a defense base in the Second World War.
The city of Kuala Kedah is located approximately 11km from the city of Alor Setar.
