The Kuala Pilah Town Stories

The Kuala Pilah Town Stories We are a group of heritage enthusiasts from the same hometown – the valley town of Kuala Pilah in the district of Negeri Sembilan.

Kuala Pilah is a charming old town, surrounded by green hills. It has a fascinating history, still visible in the existing old market and Malay bazaar, the imposing Martin Lister monument, places of worship, rows of Chinese shophouses from the early 1900s, and the wooden railway station. Minangkabau Malays, Europeans, Chinese, and Indians have long been drawn to Kuala Pilah and it is their legacie

s that give the town its unique image and identity. The members of this group are eager to share their memories of their hometown. They got together to keep Kuala Pilah’s heritage alive by telling stories of bygone days and connecting with those who still live there today. The group aims to provide insights into, and create awareness about, Kuala Pilah’s past, its food, its culture and traditions, and interesting places of historical significance. We particularly welcome members who lived, or still live, in the town themselves and have memories and reflections to share. We hope that the younger generation will benefit from gaining a glimpse into the heritage of Kuala Pilah and hearing from those who are themselves part of its history. New members are welcome to post genuine stories and photos that will be gratefully acknowledged.
