Malaysian Technology Development Corporation Sdn. MTDC is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Khazanah Nasional Berhad and has been the key player in commercialisation and management of government funding since the 7th Malaysia Plan. MTDC was established in 1992 to promote the adoption of technologies by local companies via commercialisation of local R&D or acquisition of foreign technologies. More recently, to accommodate the rapid growth and increased needs of the tech industry in Malaysia, the mandate of MTDC has been expanded to nurturing, handholding and expediting the growth of technology-based Malaysian companies through the following integrated services:
1. Provisioning of local solutions related to industry 4.0 through the Centre of 9 Pillars® ( Co9P®)
3. Providing capacity building in technical and social competencies from Technopreneur Training Academy (TENTRA)
4. Offering a conducive environment to elevate technology-based companies at MTDC’s Technology Centres

MTDC welcomed a delegation from Bunna Bank S.C., Ethiopia, as part of its Digital Transformation Leadership Development and International Exposure Programme organised by INCEIF University through ISRA Associates.

The visit brought the delegation into conversation with MTDC on the practical mechanisms behind Malaysia’s technology and innovation ecosystem, from technology commercialisation and financing models to the support structures that help technology ventures and technology-based SMEs grow.

For MTDC, the engagement was an opportunity to share perspectives from Malaysia’s experience while learning more about the priorities shaping digital transformation within Ethiopia’s financial sector.

MTDC extends its heartfelt congratulations to its Founding Chairman, Academician Emeritus Professor Tan Sri Datuk Dr. Omar Abdul Rahman FASc, on receiving the Anugerah Khas Merdeka 2026 for his lifelong contribution to the advancement of science, technology and innovation in Malaysia.

When MTDC was established in 1992, it reflected a forward-looking belief that Malaysia’s research and technological capabilities needed pathways to create value beyond the laboratory.

That belief gave rise to an institution built to connect ideas, talent, enterprise and opportunity, helping Malaysian researchers and technology companies take the next step towards their growth.

Advancing Malaysian Homegrown Technology through MySTI

From 8–10 September 2026, MTDC hosted a dedicated Technology Innovation Workshop (TIW) for companies holding the MySTI logo at UPM-MTDC.

The programme brought together 25 participants from 14 companies, providing an engaging platform to strengthen their capabilities and enhance the visibility of their products, particularly in the area of government procurement.

Participants explored practical modules covering effective pitching techniques, opportunities to access MySTI funding, and strategies to better position their products for the market.

The programme was further enriched by experience-sharing sessions featuring representatives from successful MySTI companies and the Ministry’s Procurement Division, offering participants valuable insights into the realities and opportunities within government procurement.

Through initiatives like TIW, MTDC continues to support Malaysian technology companies in becoming more market-ready, competitive and visible, while creating greater opportunities for homegrown innovations to make their way into the public sector.

At NICE 2026, four MTDC Technology Centre tenants marked an important milestone with the launch of products translating homegrown innovation into market opportunities.

Natureceuticals Sdn Bhd launched Nuvastatic™️, a clinically validated botanical therapeutic derived from Misai Kucing.

Nomatech Sdn Bhd launched Primera Red Rice, a low glycaemic, antioxidant rich red rice developed as a healthier alternative to conventional white rice.

Medan Adopsy Sdn Bhd launched Rapid Growth, an artificial pollination solution developed to improve crop pollination efficiency.

Bio-Angle Vacs Sdn Bhd launched STVac7, a needle free intranasal vaccine developed to prevent pneumonia in goats and sheep.

For MTDC, these launches are a welcome reflection of the breadth of innovation emerging from our Technology Centre, spanning healthcare, food and agriculture.

Across all three days of NICE 2026, MTDC is helming the Pocket Talk sessions at Hall 2, bringing practical perspectives and conversations closer to innovators, entrepreneurs and industry players navigating the path from technology to market. With Road to Growth (R2G) 2026 Southern, MTDC brings this year’s R2G series to a close after engaging the technology ecosystem across the Central Region and East Malaysia.

Our sincere thanks to the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI), the Iskandar Regional Development Authority (IRDA) as our strategic ecosystem partner, all ecosystem players, speakers and participants who made each edition meaningful in its own way.

And to the media, thank you for taking the story beyond the event and helping more people discover what Road to Growth is about.

Today, the Southern technology ecosystem takes centre stage at Road To Growth (R2G) 2026 Southern

Organised by Malaysian Technology Development Corporation (MTDC), with the Iskandar Regional Development Authority (IRDA) as its strategic ecosystem partner, today’s R2G edition brings together technology companies, industry players, investors, researchers, government agencies and ecosystem partners in Johor under one roof.

For a region at the intersection of industry, investment and technology, the conversations today are about strategic opportunities: technology adoption, commercialisation, access to funding, business growth and stronger connections across the ecosystem.
