(Cradle) is Malaysia’s early stage start-up influencer, incorporated under the Ministry of Finance Malaysia (MOF) in 2003 with a mandate to fund potential and high-calibre tech start-ups through the Cradle CIP Grant Programme. Cradle is presently administered by Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI). Throughout its history, Cradle has helped fund over 1000 Malaysian tech start-ups and holds the highest commercialisation rate amongst government grants in the country. Cradle also expanded its role in establishing equity investment programmes. This equity investment was implemented through the establishment of a venture capital fund, Cradle Seed Ventures in 2015. Additionally, Cradle also offered a co-investment program in the same year and directly (DEQ800) in 2017. Currently, two new grants are available to tech startups namely CIP SPARK and CIP SPRINT. CIP SPARK targets technopreneurs for the development of ideas and MVP as well as other pre-commercialisation activities, while CIP SPRINT is aimed at assisting technopreneurs at an early stage to develop and commercialise their products in the market. Following the announcement of the Malaysian Startup Ecosystem Roadmap (SUPER) in 2021, Cradle has been appointed as the focal point agency for Malaysia’s start-up ecosystem. The objective of this mandate is to ensure the successful running of a holistic ecosystem to enable and encourage growth among startups. Cradle also spearheads MYStartup – an initiative comprised of several structured programmes and a startup information portal. The initiative aims to stimulate the creation and development of early-stage startups in Malaysia, which is aligned with Malaysia’s goals to produce 5000 startups and 5 unicorns by 2025. Cradle’s product offerings are not only restricted to monetary aid, but also include commercialisation support, coaching and various other value-added services to cater for today’s entrepreneurs’ diversified needs.

A meaningful afternoon of conversations, connections and possibilities at Cradle Ecosystem Xchange 2026.

Held at BONDA, Kuala Lumpur, the session brought together founders, partners, enablers and ecosystem builders for a relaxed exchange on how we can work better together to support Malaysia’s startup ecosystem.

The gathering also gave us the opportunity to share more about Cradle’s offerings, while hearing directly from the ecosystem on where collaboration can go further.

A key part of the conversation looked ahead to 2027, with participants exchanging ideas, identifying areas of overlap and exploring opportunities to co-create programmes and initiatives that can deliver greater value to founders.

Thank you to everyone who joined us, shared openly and contributed to the discussion.

The best partnerships often start with a good conversation. This was one of them.

A day well spent at Cradle LIVE! Open Day September

Great ideas, honest conversations and plenty of questions, that’s what made our September session a meaningful one.

From our grant programmes, MYStartup, ELEVATE and due diligence, to networking and personalised 1-to-1 consultations, founders had the opportunity to gain practical insights, connect with the right people and take the next step with greater clarity.

We were also glad to welcome back some of our past grant recipeints, who turned to share their latest progress, reconnect with the ecosystem and explore new ways Cradle can support their continued growth.

Missed September? Your next opportunity is just around the corner.

Cradle LIVE! Open Day returns this October, bringing founders closer to our team, programmes, resources and wider startup ecosystem.

Two days. Two clear directions. One summit built around what comes next for Malaysia’s startup ecosystem.
Cradle LIVE! Summit 2026 is structured around two distinct conversations:

Day 1: The Springboard to ASEAN
For founders looking beyond Malaysia. Expect conversations around market intelligence, investment, startup growth and the pathways needed to scale across the region.

Day 2: The BIG Innovation Impact
Where corporates, startups and ecosystem leaders come together to explore corporate innovation, strategic partnerships, cross-border scaling and the policy environment shaping what happens next.

Whether you are building a startup, investing, innovating within a corporate, or shaping the ecosystem, there is a conversation here for you.

Turning Ideas into Validated Solutions
MYStartup Pre-Accelerator Cohort 6 Begins!

Yesterday, we officially kicked off the MYStartup Pre-Accelerator Cohort 6 by welcoming 20 promising startups and founders to our first masterclass. The programme began with a session on Technology Validation led by Nazmi Najib, CTO of Pomen AI. Nazmi shared practical insights on how early-stage founders can challenge their assumptions, validate their technology and develop solutions that address genuine market needs.

We were also pleased to welcome Swapnil Tawari from Amazon Web Services (AWS) for a special session on the AWS Activate programme, including how eligible startups can access the infrastructure credits to support their technology development and growth.

It was an insightful and energising first session to kick-start the programme that designed to help founders strengthen their foundations, accelerate product validation and turn promising ideas into market-ready ventures. This is only the beginning. We look forward to seeing how these 20 startups learn, evolve and build throughout the 2-months journey ahead.

Bangkok was more than a summit stop for us. It was where ASEAN CrossConnect went regional.

At Techsauce Global Summit 2026, Cradle brought ASEAN CrossConnect outside Malaysia for the first time, in collaboration with Founders Launchpad from the Philippines, taking the founder-investor matching format onto a wider regional stage.

From over 70 applicants across 16 countries, selected startups were matched with 9 Southeast Asia-focused investors based on stage, geography and industry fit.

Malaysia was represented by startups from both Cradle’s portfolio and the wider national ecosystem:

• CourtIQ
• EverAI Tech
• Intlife
• Escabee
• Gobarakah
• Dunita International
• MyRehat

They joined founders from Thailand, Singapore, Japan and Canada, creating a diverse mix of companies looking to connect with capital and explore opportunities across the region.

On the investor side, the session brought together investors from Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand and Singapore, all with Southeast Asia-focused portfolios.

That is what ASEAN CrossConnect is designed to do: connect the right founders with the right investors, then create space for the conversation to continue.

Thank you to Techsauce and Founders Launchpad for helping us take ASEAN CrossConnect beyond Malaysia.

Where are we heading next?

Stay tuned for the next ASEAN CrossConnect.

Malaysia's AI challenge is not a shortage of tools. It is a shortage of people inside organisations who can turn a problem statement into something that works.

Cradle Fund, through Cradle Innovation Advisory, is pleased to collaborate with GrowthPro.asia as the partnership partner for Ascent: The Corporate AI Certification, a programme where corporate teams work on their own workflows, using their own data, and finish with a working AI pilot they can take forward.

For the startup ecosystem, the bigger picture matters. Corporates that can define real problems and understand their own data are the corporates that startups can build with, and that is the connection this collaboration is designed to strengthen.

Three tracks. HRD Corp claimable. Built around real business problems. Ready to move from exploring AI to putting it to work?

That’s a wrap on Thailand, and the room proved it was worth the trip. 🇹🇭

ASEAN CrossConnect x FL Match and FL Socials x Venture Grid wrapped this past week at Techsauce Global Summit, and the room made it clear Thailand’s ecosystem was ready for this.

FL Match brought founders face-to-face with active investors through curated 1-on-1 sessions, made possible alongside our co-host, Cradle Fund. Right after, FL Socials kept the night going, this time with A2D Ventures helping bring the room together for real conversations beyond the pitch.

None of this happens without the right partners behind it. Thank you to 917 Ventures and KMC Solutions for powering the event, and OpenAI for supporting our founders with exclusive perks.

And to every investor and founder who showed up, thank you for making Bangkok one to remember.

Two co-hosts, one packed day, more cities to come. Follow us to catch where FL Match & Socials lands next. 🌏

From Malaysia to the Greater Bay Area. 🇲🇾🌏🇨🇳🇭🇰

Five Malaysian startups recently joined the Global-to-GBA Program, a six-month cross-border venture development initiative jointly organised by GUIDE and Gobi Partners, and co-organised with Hong Kong Cyberport.

The programme is designed to help international startups explore market entry, commercial partnerships and fundraising opportunities across Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area.

Representing Malaysia were:

* Nash Mohamad, ALT Synergy Sdn. Bhd.
* Zi Ying Tan, M3TRIQ Sdn. Bhd.
* Crystal Saw, OTONO AI Sdn. Bhd.
* Kayel Lee, PAIX TECH Sdn. Bhd.
* Brandon Chua, The Smarter Solution Edge Sdn. Bhd. (Voice For Health)

The cohort recently completed its first immersion across Hong Kong, Shenzhen and Guangzhou, connecting directly with corporates, investors, government agencies and ecosystem partners.

Beyond introductions, the programme gave startups practical exposure to the GBA market, fundraising strategies, potential partnerships and clearer pathways to establish themselves in the region.

For Cradle, supporting opportunities like this is about helping Malaysian startups get closer to the markets, partners and capital they need to grow beyond Malaysia.
