Under the midnight sun, Finland celebrates its most beloved holiday: juhannus.🇫🇮

As evening settles in, bonfires light up the shores and islands across the country, a centuries-old Midsummer tradition believed to bring good luck and keep away evil spirits.🔥

On Midsummer Day, Finland also celebrate the Day of the Finnish Flag, with the blue cross symbolizing the country's thousands of lakes and the white representing its snowy winters, reminding how deeply nature is woven into Finnish identity.🌊❄️

From crackling bonfires and flower crowns to lakeside cottages and bright summer nights, Midsummer is where Finland’s traditions, nature, and national pride come together.💐

Hyvää juhannusta! 💙🤍

Listening to Lived Realities: Partnership in Action on SRHR and GBV response 💙

During her visit to Kuala Lumpur, State Secretary to the Minister of Social Security of Finland, Laura Rissanen, made a meaningful detour to engage on sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) and combating gender-based violence (GBV) in Malaysia🌿

Finland is proud to support the important work done by UNFPA Malaysia and community-based partners to prevent GBV, support survivors, increase SRHR and GBV literacy, and facilitate access to services. 🤝

We were especially moved by voices from the ground, including reflections from Tenaganita, Social Work Without Borders, MEWRO, and Martabat Petaling Jaya — sharing lived realities that bring urgency and humanity to this work ✨

The Embassy of Finland in Kuala Lumpur is grateful for the openness, collaboration, and shared commitment to advancing gender equality and safer, more inclusive, resilient communities. 🌍

How can we build a more resilient and coordinated global health system? 🌍

At Global Health Security 2026 in Malaysia, Laura Rissanen, State Secretary to the Minister of Social Security of Finland, joined the plenary session on “Reimagining Global Health Security Governance and Coordinated Action.” The discussion underscored the importance of stronger international cooperation, effective governance, and collective action to prepare for future health crises.

Finland contributes its experience in prevention-focused, people-centred health services, digital innovation, and sustainable health financing. Health security is also embedded in Finland’s comprehensive security model — a whole-of-society approach that strengthens preparedness across sectors. 🤝

Finland is proud to work with global partners to advance resilient, inclusive, and sustainable health systems for all. 💙

Today, 13 June, Finland celebrates the Day of Finnish Sauna. ♨️🇫🇮

More than a tradition, more than a place, sauna is a way of life. Recognized by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage, Finnish sauna culture is rooted in connection: to nature, to community, and to yourself. It's where conversations flow, minds quiet, and everyday stress is left at the door.🩵

And science is catching up to what Finns have known for generations. Studies suggest regular sauna bathing can help reduce stress, improve sleep quality, support heart health, and lift your mood. The benefits are strongest when sauna becomes a regular ritual, not just an occasional treat.

From the warmth of the löyly to the calm that follows, the Finnish sauna isn't just about feeling good in the moment, it's about wellbeing that lasts long after you step outside.

Happy Day of Finnish Sauna! 🔥✨
