NCCIM–NCCIBD Renew MoU to Strengthen Bilateral Business Cooperation

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, 22 August 2026 — The National Chamber of Commerce and Industry Malaysia (NCCIM) and the National Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Brunei Darussalam (NCCIBD) have renewed their Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), reaffirming their commitment to deepening trade, investment and business cooperation between Malaysia and Brunei Darussalam.

The MoU was signed at the BEDB Main Auditorium, Design and Technology Building, Bandar Seri Begawan, in the presence of Guest of Honour, Yang Mulia Dr. Dayang Hajah May Fa’ezah binti Haji Ahmad Ariffin, Permanent Secretary (Economy and Trade), Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.

Representing Malaysia, the MoU was signed by Encik Norsyahrin Hamidon, President of NCCIM, and YM Raja Dato’ Sri Mufik Affandi Raja Khalid, Chairman of the Malaysia–Brunei Darussalam Business Council (MBDBC).

The renewed agreement will strengthen collaboration through business missions, trade delegations, exhibitions, sector-focused engagements, information exchange and opportunities for companies from both countries to build partnerships and expand into new markets.

Working through the Brunei Darussalam–Malaysia Business Council (BDMBC) and Malaysia–Brunei Darussalam Business Council (MBDBC), both chambers will develop a joint work programme aimed at translating the renewed partnership into concrete business opportunities.

As President of NCCIM, Encik Norsyahrin Hamidon said:

“Malaysia and Brunei Darussalam share deep economic ties, and there is far more we can do together in trade, investment and industrial cooperation. Through the Joint Business Council and its two national chapters, we intend to bring our members closer together and match capability with opportunity.”

NCCIM looks forward to working closely with NCCIBD and the business community of Brunei Darussalam to create stronger commercial linkages and new opportunities for businesses in both countries.

NCCIM APPOINTS DPMM PRESIDENT AS NEW PRESIDENT, MARKING A NEW CHAPTER FOLLOWING 50TH AGM

KUALA LUMPUR, 27 July 2026 – The National Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia (NCCIM) is pleased to announce the appointment of Tuan Norsyahrin bin Hamidon, President of the Dewan Perniagaan Melayu Malaysia (DPMM), as the new President of NCCIM for the 2026–2028 term.

The appointment was made following the conclusion of NCCIM's 50th Annual General Meeting (AGM), a significant milestone in the history of the organisation. The Golden Jubilee AGM marked not only NCCIM's 50th AGM but also celebrated the organisation's long-standing contribution to Malaysia's business community
throughout its 64-year journey since its establishment in 1962.

The 50th AGM held on Saturday, 25th July 2026 was officiated by YB Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani Minister Investment Trade and Industry (MITI).

The new appointment reflects NCCIM's established practice of leadership rotation among its five constituent chambers, namely DPMM, the Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia (ACCCIM), the Malaysian Associated Indian
Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia (MAICCI), the Malaysian International Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MICCI), and the Federation of Malaysian Manufacturing (FMM).

The rotational arrangement underscores NCCIM's commitment to collective leadership, inclusiveness and consensus, ensuring that the diverse perspectives of Malaysia's business community are represented at the highest level of the organisation. Under NCCIM's structure, the President is drawn from among the presidents of its constituent chambers, while the presidents of the other constituent
chambers serve as Vice Presidents, reinforcing the spirit of shared responsibility and unity.

NCCIM congratulates Tn Norsyahrin Hamidon on the appointment and looks forward to his leadership in advancing NCCIM's role as the collective voice of Malaysia's business community. His leadership will build upon the strong foundation established by previous Presidents and further strengthen NCCIM's engagement with the Government, industry stakeholders and the wider business community.

NCCIM also expresses its appreciation to the outgoing President, Dato’ Seri N.Gobalakrishnan, for his leadership and contributions during his tenure. NCCIM acknowledges his efforts in strengthening the organisation's role as a platform for constructive engagement between the business community and the Government, as well as in advancing initiatives that support Malaysia's economic development and competitiveness.
