What does stronger healthcare connectivity between Malaysia and the Philippines look like in practice?

MHTC recently engaged with the Embassy of the Philippines in Malaysia to explore opportunities for deeper healthcare collaboration between both countries. 🇲🇾🤝🇵🇭

The discussion provided valuable insights into the healthcare needs of Filipino patients and expatriates, while highlighting Malaysia Healthcare’s strengths in delivering accessible, high-quality care across a wide range of specialties, including oncology, fertility, gastroenterology, and advanced diagnostics.

The exchange also explored opportunities to strengthen awareness of Malaysia Healthcare among Filipino communities, leverage digital engagement to reach patients more effectively, and foster partnerships that support healthcare access and knowledge exchange between both markets.

Amid , engagements such as these continue to strengthen regional healthcare connectivity and build trusted pathways for patients seeking care across borders.

Appreciation is extended to Mr. Roussel R. Reyes (Deputy Head of Mission) and Ms. Clarissa Marie Villamor (Attaché, Economic, Cultural & Information Section) for the warm hospitality and constructive discussions.

We look forward to continued collaboration in strengthening healthcare connections between Malaysia and the Philippines.

As healthcare systems evolve globally, cross-border collaboration is increasingly shaping more resilient and future-ready care models. 🇲🇾🤝🇫🇮

Against this backdrop, MHTC participated in a Malaysia–Finland bilateral engagement hosted by the Ministry of Health Malaysia at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.

The discussion was led by YB Dato Hajjah Hanifah Hajar Taib alongside H.E. Laura Rissanen, State Secretary (Deputy Minister), Ministry of Social Affairs and Health of Finland, reflecting shared priorities around healthcare system strengthening, innovation, and international collaboration.

The Finnish delegation also comprised of Ms. Outi Kuivasniemi (Deputy Director for International Affairs), Mr. Otto Helve (Director of Public Health, Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare), and Ms. Maiju Lepomäki (Deputy Head of Mission, Embassy of Finland in Kuala Lumpur).

The Malaysian delegation included Mr. Suriaghandi Suppiah (CEO, MHTC), Dr. Ainul Nadziha Mohd Hanafiah (Deputy Director, Policy and International Relations Division), Dr. Noraryana Hassan (Director, Disease Control Division), Dr. Shaifuzah Ariffin (Deputy Director, Digital Health Division), and Puan Norlela Hatta@Antah (Senior Director, International Relations and Industry Division, Medical Device Authority), together with representatives from the Ministry of Health Malaysia.

From a medical tourism perspective, such engagements strengthen the foundation for deeper international collaboration, supporting trust-building, knowledge exchange, and more connected healthcare pathways across borders.

We thank the Ministry of Health Malaysia for hosting this dialogue, and our Finnish counterparts for the constructive exchange.

Our intern chose violence with these cataract simulation glasses 🕶️

Turns out everyday tasks are way harder when your vision is literally mimicking a waterfall (fun fact: cataract actually comes from the Latin word for waterfall because of that cloudy blur).

We’re taking this energy out of the office and straight to the airport terminals for our 3-part wellness pop-up series! ✈️✨

For many healthcare travellers, the journey doesn’t start with a flight.

It begins with a screen.

A first virtual consultation. Sometimes followed by another, and another — not out of hesitation alone, but because trust is built layer by layer.

In this episode of , , Upper GI Surgeon, takes us into what those early conversations really look like.

Not just diagnosis. But clarity.

Options laid out. Surgical plans mapped. Accommodation arranged. Recovery timelines aligned. Every detail considered before a single step is taken toward Malaysia.

So that by the time they arrive in Kuala Lumpur, nothing feels unknown.

No surprises. No “oops” moments.

Just a plan they already understand — and a journey they’ve already begun.
