Malaysia's youth should not delay to start a family at a later age in fear that it will disrupt their career and dream goals. In fact, Pemudi GTA highly believe that starting a family really helps to stabilize one's life and provide them with crucial experience to become more mature and wise in leadership roles.
TFR RATE AT THE LOWEST RATE: BERJASA CALLS FOR IMMEDIATE ACTION PLAN
1. I am drawn to comment on the Vital Statistics, Malaysia, 2021 which was released yesterday by Malaysia's Department of Statistics
2. The statistic on birth rate and Total Fertility Rate (TFR) is alarming, and if not handled seriously, through national policies or campaigns, will lead to further drop in birth rate in the upcoming years.
3. Increasing Malaysia's TFR to 2.1 is crucial to ensure that our nation will continue to thrive with the existance of young leaders and maintain a balance pop**ation size. Unfortunately, our TFR has been falling below this value over the last decade with the lowest TFR of 1.7 reported for 2021.
4. Failing to maintain and increase our TFR will lead to Malaysia becoming an ageing society much earlier, where a big portion of the pop**ation will be elders aged 60 years and above, while younger generation are scarce. This will greatly impact our economy and nation devlopment as a whole due to shortage of working-age people in the country to fill in demand roles.
5. While in Pemudi BERJASA we aim to empower our young women to become brave, competant and hold strategic positions in our nation development, we do not neglect the natural role of a women to start a family and give birth to a new generation.
6. Malaysia's youth should not delay to start a family at a later age in fear that it will disrupt their career and dream goals. In fact, pemudi Berjasa highly believe that starting a family really helps to stabilize one's life and provide them with crucial experience to become more mature and wise in leadership roles.
7. Of course, for our youth to get married and having childrens, they should equip themselves with sufficient knowledge and mental preparation, as the journey would definitely be tough. While doing so, let's not contribute to the statistics of increasing divorce and broken family which could be very detrimental to our children, our future leaders.
8. Yes, I know, it's complicated. Starting and maintaining a happy and functional family is already a handful that takes up much of our time, what more to expect our youth to also be actively involved in leadership positions and political roles. But this is what pemudi Berjasa believes in. Forming and strenthening Family Institution is an important part in building a great nation. Balance, is the key.
9. Pemudi Berjasa takes this issue very seriously and is committed to encourage our youth to start a functional family and contribute to our nation's TFR.
10. Concurrently, efforts and campaigns by government bodies are also called for to address the other issues that contributes to the reducing TFR rates. These include adding more facilities and subsidies to assist families who are trying to conceive (TTC). The government alongside NGOs should also put in a concerted effort to improve the lifestyle of our nation from all aspects; health, living cost, job securities, child care support and policies and many others which could motivate our youth to get married and have children which would then increase our TFR rate.
