Congratulations to our Final Year Project (FYP) student, Alia Maisarah Awanis, whose e-poster abstract has been accepted for display at the 5th National AIDS Conference (NAC 2026), held on 18โ€“19 September 2026! ๐ŸŒŸ

The study, โ€œImpact of Dolutegravir-Based Antiretroviral Therapy (ART) on Weight Gain in Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) Patients: A Preliminary Study in Malaysia,โ€ was conducted under the supervision of Dr. Puteri Juanita Zamri from the Faculty of Pharmacy, Universiti Malaya, in collaboration with Mogana Mathayena (Hospital Selayang, Ministry of Health Malaysia) and Raja Iskandar Shah Raja Azwa (Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Malaya).

Presenting at the 5th NAC is a highly significant milestone for undergraduate research. Guided by the vision of โ€œInnovating Prevention, Strengthening Care: No One Gets Left Behind,โ€ this prestigious interprofessional conference brings together clinicians, allied health professionals, public health officials, counselors, and community-based organizations. Showcasing our studentโ€™s work in such a diverse forum provides a dynamic platform for networking, deep collaboration, and the exchange of best practices, uniting our academic efforts with the wider healthcare community to stimulate new ideas and drive progress in managing the HIV/AIDS pandemic.

A wonderful achievement and a proud moment for cross-institutional collaboration! ๐Ÿ‘

๐ŸŽ‰ The Faculty of Pharmacy, Universiti Malaya is officially part of ASEAN PharmNET! ๐ŸŒ๐Ÿ’Š

We are delighted to mark an important milestone as the Faculty of Pharmacy, Universiti Malaya officially joins the Pharmacy Education and Research Network of ASEAN (ASEAN PharmNET) through the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) โœ๏ธ.

Becoming part of ASEAN PharmNET opens new avenues for the Faculty to strengthen connections with pharmacy schools across the ASEAN region, fostering greater collaboration in pharmacy education, research, innovation, academic exchange, and professional development. We would like to thank Mahidol University, Secretariat of ASEAN PharmNET, and Members for the warm welcome.

This momentous occasion coincided with the recent 5th ASEAN PharmNET conference. We extend our heartiest congratulations to Taylorโ€™s University, the main organizer, for steering this exceptionally well-executed event to a resounding success with over 400 participants from across the region.

As proud co-organizers, we are incredibly proud of our faculty members who actively shaped the event by serving as session chairs, invited speakers, and judges for both the oral and poster presentations. We equally appreciate our dedicated academic staff on the scientific committee for their vital contributions to the abstract review process.

This MoA milestone is particularly meaningful, and we look forward to contributing our expertise, learning from our ASEAN partners, and building impactful collaborations to address emerging healthcare and pharmaceutical challenges for the benefit of our communities.

๐ŸŒ Stronger connections. Shared knowledge. Greater impact.

We look forward to this exciting new chapter with the ASEAN PharmNET community, and we eagerly anticipate seeing everyone at the 6th ASEAN PharmNET Scientific Conference in 2028, hosted by the University of Santo Tomas in Manila, Philippines! ๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ญ๐Ÿ’™

๐ŸŒ UM at the Global Academic Leaders Forum (GALF) FIP 2026 | Montreal, Canada

The Faculty of Pharmacy, Universiti Malaya (UM), is proud to have been invited to participate in GALF FIP 2026 as a newly accepted Academic Institutional Member of FIP (FIP-AIM). The faculty was represented by Dr. Jim Chai from the Department of Clinical Pharmacy & Pharmacy Practice, who also presented his research at the congress.

UMโ€™s acceptance into FIP-AIM is a major milestone that validates our strategic direction for the future of pharmacy education! The forum heavily emphasized the urgent transition toward competency-based learning. Key takeaways guiding our ongoing curriculum redesign include:

* Adapting to the AI Era: Shifting from raw knowledge acquisition to "knowledge in action."
* Decluttering & EPAs: Removing outdated material and embedding Entrustable Professional Activities (EPAs) to assess real-world clinical readiness.
* Transferable Soft Skills: Fostering critical thinking and leadership to build an adaptable One Health workforce.
* Patient-Centric Models: Involving patients directly as educational stakeholders to develop deeply humanistic practitioners.

Beyond the insightful sessions, Dr. Jim had the pleasure of connecting in person with Prof. Abeer AlGhananeem, Dean of the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences at Ajman University (UAE). This wonderful meeting further strengthened a valued collaboration we have shared for two consecutive years. ๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿค

It was also a monumental honor to watch Dr. Jim step onto the stage in Montreal, proudly representing Malaysia to officially welcome delegates to the FIP 2027 World Congress, which will be held at KLCC in Kuala Lumpur. His presence during this historic handover highlights the strength and dedication of Malaysian pharmacists on a global platform, perfectly setting the stage as Kuala Lumpur prepares to host healthcare leaders from around the world to connect, debate, and advance the future of pharmaceutical care.
Looking ahead, we are ecstatic that FIP 2027 will be hosted right here in Kuala Lumpur! ๐Ÿ‡ฒ๐Ÿ‡พ This will serve as an excellent platform for our region to expand horizons, showcase advancements, and build powerful global networks.
