BIMP-EAGA has seven UNESCO . These are Lorentz National Park in Indonesia; Mt. Kinabalu Park, Niah Caves, and Gunung Mulu National Park in Malaysia; Puerto Princesa Subterranean River, Tubbataha Reefs National Park, and Mount Hamiguitan Range Wildlife Sanctuary in the Philippines.
Something remarkable is happening across UNESCO-designated sites, and new evidence is bringing it into focus.
While global wildlife populations have declined by 73% since 1970, those within -designated sites have remained comparatively stable. And while languages are at risk of disappearing, these sites represent over 1,000 languages, with a quarter overlapping Indigenous Peoples' territories.

The report, titled “People and nature in UNESCO-designated sites: Global and local contributions”, is the first to examine all UNESCO categories – sites, and – as a single network of over 2,260 sites covering more than 13 million km².
