The AI Fundamentals Programme Maker Space, Taman Harapan was successfully launched by YB Tuan Jagdeep Singh Deo, Deputy Chief Minister II of Penang and Chairman of Penang STEM, marking a significant step forward in empowering young minds from the community with future-ready digital & AI skills.

We extend our heartfelt appreciation to Majlis Bandaraya Pulau Pinang (MBPP) for their generous sponsorship and continuous support in making this initiative possible at their Maker Space.

Datuk Bandar, Dato' Ir Rajendran P. Anthony, in his welcome speech, thanked parents from the community for supporting the council's initiative which is in line with their motto "Leading We Serve".

YB Jagdeep, in his keynote address, thanked Penang STEM for initiating the AI Fundamentals programme and congratulated MBPP for the partnership which shall help shape the next generation of innovators through AI education.

Besides AI Fundamentals which is offered to Upper Primary students, Penang STEM currently also offers 2 other structured STEM programmes in schools, namely StepUP: WizKids for Lower Secondary and Technical Skill Learning for Upper Secondary students.

All programmes have been endorsed by Jabatan Pendidikan Negeri Pulau Pinang as extra-curricular STEM programmes for selected schools.

Congratulations to the outstanding students and teachers of SMJK Jit Sin, SMJK Heng Ee Cawangan Bayan Baru, SMJK Chung Hwa Confucian, SMJK Phor Tay, SMK St Xavier, and SMK (L) Methodist for successfully completing the StepUP: WizKids Programme! 🎉
Your perseverance, dedication, and passion throughout the programme are truly commendable. 🌟

The StepUP: WizKids Programme is a structured AI and Data Science initiative for lower secondary students, designed to provide an early foundation in these critical fields and inspire more students to pursue STEM streams in upper secondary. The programme adopts a hybrid approach combining Intel® AI for Youth (theory) with hands-on learning using Quarky and Python. 🤖📊

The event was honoured by the presence of Deputy Chief Minister II and Chairman of Penang STEM, YB Tuan Jagdeep Singh Deo, who delivered an impactful keynote on the importance of AI and Data Science education for the next generation.
Also in attendance were distinguished representatives from Jabatan Pendidikan Negeri Pulau Pinang (JPN):
• Tuan Mohamad Zawawi bin Ahmad, Timbalan Pengarah Pendidikan, Sektor Perancangan dan Pengurusan PPD
• Dr Fazzlijan binti Mohamed Adnan Khan, Ketua Penolong Pengarah Kanan, Unit Teknologi Maklumat dan Komunikasi
• Prof Dr Asrulnizam bin Abd Manaf, Director of USM’s Collaborative Microelectronic Design Excellence Centre (CEDEC)

The half-day event on 4 December 2025 at Tech Dome Penang brought together over 170 students and teachers for an enriching experience. 🚀
🔹 18 student teams showcased their creativity and problem-solving skills in the Project Showcase, presenting STEM solutions built using Quarky and PictoBlox
🔹 Participants also enjoyed STEM Discovery guided tours, team-building activities, and specially curated STEM Games by Tech Dome Penang

Special appreciation to Jabatan Pendidikan Negeri (JPN) for their strong support, and heartfelt thanks to the dedicated trainers from USM and Tech Dome Penang for their mentoring and guidance. 🙏

Your hard work, curiosity, and commitment throughout the programme have truly been inspiring. 🚀

The AIKids Programme is a structured initiative for upper primary students, designed to spark interest in STEM by building a strong foundation in Artificial Intelligence. It runs on a hybrid model combining Intel® AI for Youth (theory) with hands-on practical learning using ZOOM:BIT or Quarky.

The half-day finale event on 3 December 2025 at Tech Dome Penang brought together over 200 students and teachers for an exciting and memorable experience. 🎊
✨ 24 student teams took part in the Project Showcase, tackling STEM challenges using ZOOM:BIT and HuskyLens by Cytron.
🔍 Other participants enjoyed STEM Discovery guided tours, team-building activities, and specially curated STEM Games at Tech Dome Penang.
