Penang Hindu Endowments Board

The Penang Hindu Endowments Board (PHEB) is a statutory body as set out in the Hindu Endowments Act in 1906.

Its main role is to administer the endowments placed under its administration. Endowment means any endowment be it land, landed property, buildings, houses, burial grounds, temples, money given or to be given for the benefit of the Hindu community in Penang. The endowments administered by the Board are:

1.Waterfall Endowment
2.Queen street Endowment
3.Butterworth Endowment
4.Sri Kunj Bihari Endow

5.Ranee Dhoby Ghaut Endowment

In addition to managing 5 Endowments, the Board also administers:

1.Burial Ground – Batu Lanchang, Penang, Jalan Siram, Butterworth, Batu Kawan, Simpang Ampat, Byram, Nibong Tebal, Seberang Jaya, Butterworth, Prai and Balik Pulau.
2.Multipurpose Hall – Dewan Sree Mariamman, Butterworth
3.Properties – Houses, Land and Shop Lots

The Board also organizes the annual Thaipusam and Ponggal festival`s in Penang

29 Julai 2023 - Prof Ramasamy dijemput untuk memberi ucapan di program pendidikan anjuran Penang Hindu Association (PHA) di Event Room Lembaga Wakaf Hindu Negeri Pulau Pinang (LWHNPP) Beliau yang merupakan ahli akedemik sebelum ini, menekankan kepentingan pendidikan untuk kaum India di negara ini dalam ucapan beliau. Selain itu beliau mengesa para peserta untuk mengamalkan tabiat membaca buku untuk terus berjaya.

Pengerusi PHA telah membuat penghormatan kepada beliau selaku pengerusi LWHNPP serta sebagai tanda penghargaan atas sumbangan beliau untuk Negeri Pulau Pinang sebagai TKM2 Pulau Pinang

30 June 2023 - Mr. Krishnasamy, Senior Executive Officer of PHEB had attended Sri Mangalanayagi Amman Temple to participate and witness the consecration (kumbabhisegam) ceremony of Sri Pothu Naga Amman Nuthana Sannathi.

He congratulated the temple committee for successfully conducting the kumbabhisegam ritual as planned.

Also present Mr.N.Thanabalan the commissioner of PHEB.

26 June 2023 - Mr. Krishnasamy, Senior Executive Officer of PHEB had attended the 190th annual prayer of Arulmigu Sri Maha Mariamman temple.
He expressed his appreciation to the temple management led by Mr.D.Kumareson for the initiative that has been taken to carry out the ceremony as planned

Also present Mr.Muniandy the commissioner of PHEB.

The Penang Hindu Endowments Board has opened application to serve in the Temple Management Committee for the term of 1st Aug 2023 to 31st July 2024 on today onwards.

The deadline for application is on or before 14th July 2023. Late applications will not be accepted.

We would like to invite your goodself to the Sri Mangalanayagi Amman Temple to participate and witness the consecration (kumbabhisegam) ceremony of Sri Pothu Naga Amman Nuthana Sannathi.

The ceremony mentioned above will be held on 30 June 2023 whereby special prayers will begin at 5.30 am. The ritual of pouring consecrated water is estimated to take place at 10.20 am to 10.50 am

May Goddess Pothu Naga Amman Blessings shower all the of us on this auspicious day

16 June 2023 - We would like to invite your goodself to the Arulmigu Sri Amman temple in conjunction with the 190th temple annual prayers on 26.6.2023. Special prayers will be held in the morning (9.00 am onwards) whereby lunch will be served starting at 12 noon

In the afternoon a Sagada procession will be organized around the Little India area. This procession activity is a continuation of the special prayers that will be held on the above mentioned day at 7.00 pm

In this regard, we cordially would like to invite all the devotees to attend and seek blessing of the Goddes Amman.

dan En.Viknesh Prabu telah menghadiri satu sidang ceramah yang bertajuk ‘Way Forward For Indian Political Leadership’ yang dianjurkan oleh Malaysia Association of Indian University Graduates (MAIUG) dengan kerjasama Malaysian Indian NGO’s bertempat di Midlands Convention Centre, Shah Alam.

YB Prof Ramasamy telah menyampaikan ucapan beliau berhubung masalah yang dihadapi serta pencapaian masyarakat India di negara ini.

Data di gambar 1, merupakan ringkasan jumlah kutipan daripada tabung pedati emas dan jumlah bantuan dana yang telah diagihkan kepada pemohon sejak tahun 2017 iaitu tahun bermula penganjuran perarakan pedati emas sehingga tahun 2023.

Untuk makluman jumlah kutipan tabung pedati emas adalah sebanyak RM629,175.58. Manakala jumlah bantuan dana LWHNPP yang telah diberikan adalah sebanyak RM1,533,861.13. Ini bermakna lebihan sebanyak RM 904,685.55 adalah peruntukkan daripada akaun pejabat LWHNPP.

Seramai 1152 pemohon telah menerima manfaat melalui bantuan yang diberikan.

Gambar 2 merupakan keperincian kutipan undial bermula tahun 2017 hingga 2023 dimana kutipan tertinggi direkodkan pada tahun pertama penganjuran perarakan pedati emas. Graf kutipan bagi 4 tahun pertama iaitu 2017 hingga 2020 adalah meningkat. Walaubagaimanapun tiada kutipan dicatatkan pada tahun 2021 disebabkan pembatalan penganjuran perarakan pedati emas kerana pandemik COVID19. Pada tahun seterusnya iaitu 2022 jumlah kutipan dicatatkan adalah sebanyak RM9,929.00. Ini adalah kerana, walaupun penganjuran pedati dibenarkan oleh Kementerian, namun di atas kesedaran kepentingan social distancing pihak LWHNPP mengambil keputusan untuk menganjurkan bagi perjalanan tanpa berhenti sehingga sampai ke destinasinya. Hasil tabung besar kemungkinan diperolehi semasa pedati berada di tempat bermula, semasa dihentikan untuk berehat di 4 lokasi yang terpilih dan di destinasi terakhir.

Walaupun kutipan tabung pedati emas tidak konsisten dan menjunam sehingga tiada kutipan bagi 2021 namun bantuan dana pendidikan tetap diberikan melebihi angka kutipan

Graf di gambar 3 merupakan trend kutipan tabung pedati emas berbanding pemberian bantuan dana pendidikan LWHNPP. Ianya jelas kali menunjukkan bantuan yang diberikan adalah melebihi hasil kutipan tabung pedati emas.

Untuk memastikan kesahihan laporan yang dinyatakan, laporan audit tahunan oleh Jabatan Audit Negara Malaysia telah dimuatnaikan di laman web LWHNPP - www.hebpenang.gov.my
