Another Blueprint for the Indian community is an act to derail the agenda for the Indian poor.

The shocking announcement by Unity Minister Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang in Parliament last week on the appointment of a consultation firm from Sarawak -PEMANDU, to conduct a study and create another “Blueprint” for the marginalised Indian community is yet another attempt by the Madani government to derail and further delay the real progress needed for the marginalised Indian community.

I wish to remind the PM and his Unity government leaders that the Hindraf protests against the then BN government, which started in 2005 and led to a major protest in 2007, WOULD REPEAT if this government takes the predicament of the community for a ride by deliberately devising poor, illogical plans and play games with the plight of the Indian community.

In 2012, I presented a comprehensive Blueprint from Hindraf prepared by professionals from within my organisation without a single cent cost for anyone, which was unprecedented. This eventually led to the government of Najib's endorsement and was made part of the government agenda in 2013 after the general elections. The subsequent failure Najib to implement the Blueprint led to my resignation from the Najib Government, which is public knowledge.

Fearing another backlash from Hindraf, then PM Najib formed SEDIC, and MIC initiated another blueprint study, spending millions of ringgits belonging to taxpayers. This blueprint, consisting of the main agenda of the Hindraf Blueprint (2012), was again endorsed by the Najib cabinet. The blueprint already has sufficient short-term and long-term plans, which only need the government's political will and responsible planning and implementation.

In 2018, when I was in charge of MITRA, major plans for implementing real agendas were formulated, and consultations were held with top Indian consultants who volunteered to serve the community without any expectation. The Chief Secretary to the government and JPM was fully aware of those plans, and those planning documents remained within JPM when the government changed in 2020.

To now go back to basics with the antics of another Blueprint is nothing but a deliberate attempt to make the Indian community fools. Parliament members, irrespective of race from PH and BN, are fully aware of the plight of the Indians. They should strongly object to this madness and irresponsibility by the Unity Minister, who appears clueless.

MITRA should be returned to the PMO, and PM Anwar Ibrahim, who has numerous times claimed to be the voice and champion of the Indian poor, should take responsibility for it directly. Otherwise, he should appoint a minister specifically for this purpose under the PMO.
