Razak School of Government RSOG is Malaysia’s premier leadership institute, bridging public and private sectors to develop future leaders and strengthen policy.

The Malaysia of today is different from the Malaysia of a decade ago. It is a completely new era that simply compels a new formula of success. It is beyond rhetoric to suggest that a paradigm shift is needed in meeting the expectations of a more open, complex, demanding and nuanced society. Succeeding in new and challenging environments requires the Malaysian public service to take an honest and c

ritical stock of its’ new environment and realities versus its current state. In 2010 National Budget Speech, on 23 October 2009, the sixth Prime Minister of Malaysia, Dato’ Sri Mohd. Najib bin Tun Abdul Razak articulated the Government’s intentions to forming a “school of government” with a global brand and reputation. He delivered a Vision of an institution with greater autonomy that will provide higher quality professional teaching and leadership development that would build high-performing and knowledgeable pools of public service leaders for the nation. This was further articulated in the 10th Malaysian Plan tabled in Parliament on 10 June 2010. The Razak School of Government was formed for the realities of tomorrow. It came to being to serve the fundamental needs of a developed Malaysia in 2020. The terms of School has been formed to serving a developed Malaysia society. Launched on 8 October 2010 by The Honourable Dato’ Sri Mohd. Najib bin Tun Abdul Razak, the School has been mandated to groom the future public sector leaders of Malaysia across all service sectors. The formation of RSOG is therefore very much at the heart of the transformation of the public service sector – engine of the Government Transformation Programme, GTP.

The leadership of RSOG, led by Chief Executive Officer, YBrs. In line with our dedication to advancing leadership excellence and bridging the public and private sectors, RSOG continues to foster high-level strategic partnerships.

A formal courtesy visit was observed between the leadership of RSOG, represented by our Chief Executive Officer, YBrs. Dr. Wafi Nazrin Bin Dr. Abdul Hamid, alongside the Director of the Leadership Development Centre (LDC), Encik Azham Bin Zainal Abidin and YBhg. Dato’ Dr. Roslan bin Mahmood, Deputy Secretary General (Development) of the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development (KKDW).

The dialogue centered on reinforcing leadership development frameworks, exchanging strategic insights, and strengthening human capital initiatives aimed at driving sustainable national growth.

We are saddened to learn of the passing of Dr. Akira Nakamura, Professor Emeritus at Meiji University in Japan. He co-founded the programme “A Quest for Governance in Asia” with RSOG.

This modular programme, which was anchored around community engagement and facilitation, has benefited many Malaysian government officers at the district and local administration levels.

The programme was later replicated and adapted to other learning opportunities, including virtual. Our heartfelt condolences to Mrs Nakamura and the family. Dr Nakamura’s wisdom and kindness remain vividly in our minds.
