Community support works best when everyone plays a part.

When surplus vegetables are donated to PSPK, our role is to help move the fresh produce into the community while it can still be used.

In August, 2,370 kg of vegetables were redistributed through this effort.

Making this work depends on more than PSPK alone. It involves donors making surplus produce available, community partners supporting distribution, and community members helping ensure the vegetables are shared and put to good use.

It is a shared effort that allows a large amount of available fresh produce to benefit the community.

From learning how to handle the tools and techniques to completing an item themselves, tailoring is a skill built through practice.

Through tailoring skills training supported by PSPK, women have had opportunities to develop practical sewing skills and apply what they learn through hands-on work.

Each completed piece reflects a skill that can continue to be practised and developed beyond the training.

Beyond his role at PSPK, our President, Rev. Henry Sandanam, continues to be actively involved in wider community leadership.

On 3 September 2026, he participated alongside other community leaders in the Special Dialogue with the Prime Minister and Indian Community Leaders at the Prime Minister’s Office.

During the dialogue, Mr Henry contributed to the wider discussion and also shared a community concern arising from issues encountered on the ground.

His involvement across different community platforms is part of the broader experience and perspective he brings to his leadership of PSPK and our work with communities.

Learning a practical skill is one thing. Being able to turn that learning into a finished product is another.

Through bakery skills training supported by PSPK, women have had opportunities to learn through hands-on practice and apply those skills in preparing a range of baked products.

The products may be the visible result, but the skills behind them can continue to be practised, improved and developed further.

A food pack may seem simple, but practical support at the right time can make a difference.

When donated food packs are available, PSPK redistributes them within the community so that prepared meals can reach people who can benefit from them.

In August, 1,100 food packs were distributed through this ongoing community effort.

Learning about money early can make a difference, especially when there is little room for financial mistakes.

This year, 20 students completed Cekap Duit, marking the fourth year PSPK has continued the programme with young people in the community.

Across the programme, students worked through practical topics including budgeting, spending, saving, investing, scam awareness and contributing.

The certificates recognise their completion. What matters more is that they leave with a better foundation for the financial decisions they will increasingly have to make for themselves.

Suitable surplus groceries can still serve an important purpose.

Through our ongoing collection from Bila-Bila Mart, groceries that are still suitable for consumption are redirected through PSPK’s community food initiatives to support community members.

In August, 342 kg of surplus groceries were recovered and redistributed.

The figure reflects more than food kept in use. It represents available food being channelled to people who can benefit from it.

Today, the final Cekap Duit class moved beyond spending and budgeting to what young people can do with money for the future.

Students explored the basics of investing, insurance and scam awareness, alongside the importance of contributing and giving as part of responsible money management.

The session concluded with a post-programme assessment to understand what students had learned across Cekap Duit and how their understanding of financial literacy had developed throughout the programme.

A practical step towards helping young people make more informed and responsible financial decisions.

ASAS Youth students spent this session looking at how discipline, initiative and planning can make a difference in the way they learn.

They worked on organising their own study time, explored practical ways to strengthen memory and recall, and reflected on their personal goals and future interests.

The session also encouraged them to connect what they are learning now with the skills and opportunities they may need later on.
