This week, Helix Solutions Consultants Randy Taylor and Christopher Villa visited San Jacinto College (SJC) in Houston, where Helix proudly serves as the external evaluator for the NSF-funded Pipeline for Cybersecurity Careers program.

Through this important partnership, we’re supporting SJC’s mission to equip students with the knowledge and real-world experience they need to launch successful careers in cybersecurity, one of today’s most critical and in-demand fields.

🌟 Exciting News from Helix Solutions! 🌟

We are thrilled to announce the release of our latest project: the "2024 Nonprofit Profile in El Paso, Texas" 🎉

This comprehensive survey, supported by the Paso del Norte Health Foundation (PdNHF) and Paso del Norte Community Foundation (PdNCF), sheds light on the pivotal role nonprofit organizations play in the El Paso community. From providing essential services and employment opportunities to driving significant economic impact, these organizations are the backbone of support for El Paso’s most vulnerable and underserved populations. This report is crucial for understanding the current nonprofit landscape, highlighting areas of strength, and identifying needs within the sector.

The Helix Solutions team, in close collaboration with the PdNHF and PdNCF, wrote the report, developed the survey instrument, and conducted the data analysis. We are proud to contribute to such an important initiative and support the incredible work of nonprofits in El Paso. Together, we can continue to make a positive impact in our community!

Sometimes our projects are not awarded by the funder, but a nice comment from a proposal reviewer can lift our spirits:

"A carefully developed evaluation program employs an external evaluator is from Helix Solutions, LLC. Formative evaluation will guide improvement during pilot testing including participant “think aloud” and pre- and post- use assessments. Monitoring the projects fidelity to its plan, as presented in an easy-to-follow Logic Model graphic, is an important feature not found in many proposals."

Helix Solutions has recently released their latest evaluation report, entitled “Lessons Learned Implementing Evidence-Base Sexual Health Curricula in West Texas Schools.” The report summarizes Project Vida Health Center’s “Canutillo Teen Wellness Initiative,” a two-year project (July 2019 to June 2021) that implemented a holistic approach to mitigate risky behaviors and unintended teenage pregnancy among Canutillo ISD middle and high school students. The project was supported by Grant Number TP1AH000196 from the Department of Health and Human Services, Office of Population Affairs (OPA). The report details evaluation research methods and findings as well as discusses several lessons learned when implementing the project during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.

We would like to thank Project Vida Health Center, Nancy Torres at Canutillo ISD, Dr. Jane Choi at Mathematica, Dr. Jeff Sirkin at the University of Texas at El Paso, and Robert McCreary.
