Many people have been concerned about whether Cozumel is safe. Cozumel is one of the safest places in the world. There is no gang violence on this beautiful island, and it’s sad that the news is even mentioning Cozumel. As an American living in Cozumel for over 20 years, I feel safer here than any other place in the world. The places that are having issues aren’t even tourist destinations, and are on the other side of Mexico. I understand that the States is doing what they can to fix the economy and keep the flow of money within the country, but do not make false claims about one of the safest places. There are 8 times more crimes committed in the US, than in Mexico according to the crime stats.
