💧 Why are fire hydrants flushed? 💧

Hydrant flushing is an important part of maintaining our water system. It helps:

You may notice water flowing from a hydrant during routine maintenance. This is a normal process that helps keep our water system safe and reliable.

✅ PARTIAL BOIL WATER NOTICE LIFTED

The partial boil water notice for the Jefferson Water Treatment Plant service area has officially been lifted following final approval from TCEQ.

More than 50 bacteriological water samples collected throughout the affected area confirmed negative results for bacteria. Additional testing and regulatory review were completed to ensure full compliance and confidence in the City’s water system.

Operational data and testing throughout the process continued to support that this was an isolated incident and not a failure of the City’s water treatment system or infrastructure.

Water is now safe for normal consumption and use.

The City of Laredo thanks our residents, local businesses, Utilities Department personnel, emergency response teams, City staff, and state partners for their patience, cooperation, and dedication throughout this process.

✅ AVISO PARCIAL DE HERVIR EL AGUA LEVANTADO

El aviso parcial de hervir el agua para el área de servicio de la Planta de Tratamiento de Agua Jefferson ha sido oficialmente levantado tras la aprobación final de la TCEQ.

Más de 50 muestras bacteriológicas de agua recolectadas en toda el área afectada confirmaron resultados negativos para bacterias. También se realizaron pruebas adicionales y revisión regulatoria para garantizar el cumplimiento total y mantener la confianza en el sistema de agua de la Ciudad.

Los datos operacionales y las pruebas realizadas durante todo el proceso continuaron respaldando que se trató de un incidente aislado y no de una falla en el sistema de tratamiento de agua o en la infraestructura de la Ciudad.

El agua ahora es segura para el consumo y uso normal.

🔔 🚨 Water Quality Report Clarification 🚨🔔

An earlier reference in the City of Laredo’s report incorrectly used the term “chloroform” instead of “coliform.”

The current precautionary boil water notice involves coliform testing related to routine water quality monitoring conducted under state and federal regulations. It is not related to chloroform.

The City of Laredo continues coordinating directly with TCEQ while extensive confirmatory testing and operational response activities continue throughout the Jefferson pressure plane service area. The City is currently awaiting certified laboratory results from the additional 50 representative samples collected yesterday, with results anticipated around 11:00 p.m. this evening.
