Mazatlán SOS Information 🆘 We set up, organize, and manage Community SOS Groups on WhatsApp or Zello 🚨 SOS.MEX.COM 🚨

We are asked … what is a Community SOS Group and why should I join one?

A Community SOS Alert Group is just that, an easy way to quickly alert others of an emergency or alert others that you need assistance. This is not a replacement for 911 or any other emergency service, rather to alert people in your community of the SOS.

What is a community? It could be a condo building, a residential complex, a worksite or a retail store. Anywhere that there are people looking to alert and receive alerts.

What types of alerts? Could be someone trespassing, a fire, someone needing medical attention.

Is this monitored by 911? No, it’s a local SOS Alert chat, only used for urgent messages, not general chats, only for urgent matters.

What system to you use? We set up both on WhatsApp and Zello. Both are free and for all smartphone systems.

How much does it cost? Our services are 100% free! We are not affiliated with the police or a government

How do I learn more or get started? You can join our sample communities here: WhatsApp: https://chat.whatsapp.com/KkZwsPfE6uu1Tv1sINWZTm or Zello: zello.com/sostest and to get started, visit http://sos.mex.com

Hurricane ‘Enrique’ will bring heavy rains to the coast of Sinaloa

Now that summer is here, it's jellyfish season in the tropics. These little (in Mazatlan) BLUE devils can give you mighty painful stings, even if you step on "dead" ones on the beach. Here is some information that may help:

The big plus in Mazatlan is that since jellyfish "ride the currents", there are always beaches that are jellyfish free, even when there are others that are heavily infested. All you have to do is look. The jellyfish just go where the ocean currents take them.

Wash the area off with more seawater or COLD water. If you are having an allergic reaction like some people get with bee/wasp stings...GET YOURSELF TO A DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY. Symptoms are usually difficulty in breathing/hives, etc. Fortunately, just like bee/wasp stings, this is a very rare situation, but does need IMMEDIATE MEDICAL ATTENTION.

Be careful, don’t risk it! Due to high waves, they put the beaches of Mazatlán on Alert • June 22, 2021

Mazatlán, Sinaloa. – Due to the climatic situation that prevails in the port since last weekend as a result of the meteorological phenomena that were nearby, the state of the sea has been changing to the degree of putting a yellow traffic light on the beaches of Mazatlán, other of them were completely closed together with the aquatic activities, highlighted Gonzalo Magallanes Romero.

The commander of the Aquatic Squad emphasized that it is not a total closure, it is only called preventive so that bathers respect the color of the flag that is in the area to visit and when entering the sea, they do not exceed after where the wave bursts.

The head of the lifeguards, stressed that during the course of the week they will monitor the new storm that is forming in the south of the Pacific.

“WE RESTRICT ENTRY AFTER THE WAVES, BUT THEY CAN WALK ON THE BEACH WETTING THEIR FEET WITH THE WATER ON THEIR WAISTS, WHERE WE HAVE RED FLAGS WE ARE DEFINITELY RESTRICTING ENTRY TO THE SEA AREA, THEY ARE MEASURES THAT WE HAVE BEEN ALL OVER SINCE SATURDAY”, HE EMPHASIZED

Gonzalo Magallanes called on bathers to abide by the instructions of the lifeguard of the area they visit, the purpose of this is to avoid unfortunate situations such as those that occurred at the weekend, where two people lost their lives, he also said that going to remote areas is makes it difficult for elements that neglect a sector to move to provide support.

“THERE WERE A LOT OF PEOPLE IN THE BEACH AREA, EMERGENCIES WERE TRIGGERED IN A PERIOD OF TWO HOURS, WE HAD CARE, WE HAD RESCUES AND WE HAD COMPLICATIONS IN SOME AREAS THAT WERE QUITE FAR AWAY AND WE HAD TO MOVE PEOPLE,” HE ADDED.

Another of the Aquatics commander’s instructions is to avoid entering with inappropriate clothing, while intoxicated or after consuming food, these factors can complicate the bather’s reaction.
