Chinese company CAS Space has marked a milestone in space cooperation, launching the eighth rocket of its Kinetica 1 series (Lijian-1), which carried seven satellites into orbit, including a pair built in Mexico. The launch took place from Jiuquan Space Center in the Gobi Desert. 🌍
Among the payload were the ThumbSat-1 and the ThumbSat-2, designed and built by the Mexican company ThumbSat. These are miniature satellites, weighing less than 100 grams each, created for simple but symbolic tasks. ️️
According to the company, the mission of these tiny satellites is to prove that their size doesn't stop them from being significant. The ThumbSat-1 carries a payload for taking a "selfie" in orbit, while the ThumbSat-2 carries an artistic payload, uniting science and creativity to prove that exploration is not just about data, but also about expression. 🖼️
This project represents an innovative collaboration and a milestone for the Chinese space industry in the North American market. CAS Space emphasizes that this strengthens the ties of scientific cooperation between the two countries, contributing to a new model of more fair, open and inclusive space cooperation.
