We were sad to learn today of the death of Hannah Pick-Goslar at the age of 93. Hannah, or Hanneli as Anne called her in her diary, was one of Anne Frank’s best friends; they had known each other since kindergarten. They became close friends and were always in and out of each other’s houses. Hannah recounted: ‘My mother described Anne Frank well. She said: “God knows everything, but Anne knows better.”’

Zusammen mit meinem Kollegen Jörg-Uwe Hahn MdL habe ich die Bildungsstätte Anne Frank in Frankfurt besucht. Auch in Zeiten der Pandemie muss der Zugang zur politischen Bildung gesichert werden. Ein breites Bildungsangebot sensibilisiert besonders die junge Generation gegen Diskriminierung, Antisemitismus, Rassismus und Radikalisierung. Der regelmäßige Austausch mit der Anne-Frank-Stiftung und dem Geschäftsführer Meron Mendel ist für unsere politische Arbeit wichtig.
Die Gesprächsinhalte wollen wir auch mit Vertretern des Jüdischen Museums vertiefen.

Berthe Badehi, a Holocaust survivor and volunteer at Yad Vashem, celebrated her 90th birthday this week with colleagues, family and friends.

Berthe survived the Holocaust as a child hiding in France, in the house of a local farmer, Marie Massonnat. Berthe recalls her time with the Massonnat family:

“She took care of me for 3 years. They were the most beautiful years of my childhood. They are still my family, my Christian family from France. We are not a Jewish or Christian family, but a family all the same.”

13 March 1997, Yad Vashem recognized Marie Massonnat as Righteous Among the Nations. Today Berthe Badehi volunteers at Yad Vashem, helping the visitors and giving testimony about her experiences during the Holocaust to students and educators from Israel and abroad.⁠

Ella es Zinaida Portnova, conocida por haberle quitado la vida a más de 100 n***s, envenenandoles la comida, con tan sólo 16 años de edad.
Fue capturada por la Gestapo y mientras estaba siendo interrogada, le quito el arma al detective n**i y le disparo en la cabeza. En su intento de fuga ejecutó a dos n***s más. Fue ejecutada a los 17 años de edad.

We welcome the United Nations resolution adopted today to combat denial. This recognizes UNESCO's work on . We will continue to teach history and combat all forms of antisemitism, online and offline.

This resolution comes on the same day, 80 years ago during the Wansee Conference, when N**i officials discussed and coordinated the genocide of the Jewish people, establishing N**i death camps which led to the murder of nearly six million Jews.

Arye Ephrath's mother gave birth to him hidden in a basement during a roundup of Jews in Bardejov, Slovakia, in 1942. A housekeeper helped during her labor because Arye's father had fled to the forest to avoid deportation.

Arye was born into a world that wasn't safe for Jews. To ensure the survival of their family, his parents were forced to place their trust in strangers. A priest, a shepherd and his wife, and another family with barely enough food to sustain themselves risked their lives to help Arye's family.

"Faced with a choice, they did not hesitate," Arye remembers.
