MANGOCHI MUNICIPAL COUNCIL RECEIVES FIRE ENGINE TRUCK
Mangochi Municipal Council has received a fire engine truck from Creck Hardware and General Suppliers Limited through the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development, a development that is set to significantly strengthen firefighting and emergency response services in Mangochi Municipality.
The fire engine is one of two firefighting trucks donated by Creck Hardware and General Suppliers Limited, with the two trucks valued at approximately K300 million. One has been allocated to Mangochi Municipal Council and the other to Lilongwe City Council.
The trucks were handed over by Managing Director of Creck Hardware and General Suppliers Limited, Apostle Clifford Kawinga, at a ceremony held at Capital Hill in Lilongwe.
Speaking on the gesture, Chief Executive Officer of Mangochi Municipal Council, Mr. Ernest Kadzokoya, expressed profound appreciation to the Government of Malawi for considering the people of Mangochi in the distribution of the firefighting equipment.
Mr. Kadzokoya said the arrival of the fire engine is a significant milestone for Mangochi Municipality, as the Council has previously faced challenges in responding to fire emergencies due to the absence of a dedicated fire engine.
“We would like to sincerely thank the Government of Malawi for considering the people of Mangochi. This fire engine will go a long way in strengthening our capacity to respond to fire emergencies and, most importantly, in protecting lives and property,” said Mr. Kadzokoya.
The CEO also expressed appreciation to Creck Hardware and General Suppliers Limited for the generous contribution, describing the donation as an important example of how public-private partnerships can contribute to improved service delivery in local authorities.
Mr. Kadzokoya assured the people of Mangochi that the Council will take responsibility for ensuring that the fire engine is properly maintained, adequately fuelled and kept ready for deployment whenever an emergency arises.
The donation comes at a time when Mangochi Municipality continues to grow, increasing the need for reliable emergency response services to safeguard residents, businesses and property.
Mangochi Municipal Council therefore extends its sincere gratitude to the Government of Malawi, the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development, and Creck Hardware and General Suppliers Limited for this important investment in the safety and wellbeing of the people of Mangochi.
