WORLD SIGHT DAY 2026- LOVE YOUR EYES!
In recognition of World Sight Day 2026, GoodVision Malawi in partnership with OneSight, is providing eye care services at Maula Prison in Lilongwe, from 7th to 10th of October 2026. The initiative reached both inmates and staff, providing eye screenings and spectacles to support improved vision and overall well-being.
Our outreach efforts also extended to Thyolo Female Prison in the Southern Region where we provided free eye screenings to female inmates and prison staff, alongside eye health, education and identification of cases requiring spectacles, medication, or cataract surgery referrals.
In Northern Region, this was held at Nkhokwe Primary School. The activity aimed at promoting eye health awareness and provide eye screening services. This has been of benefit to students, teachers, committee and community members as they rarely see these services closer to their areas.
Through these activities, we achieved the following:
3,534 people screened across the three outreach activities.
745 pairs of spectacles distributed
These initiatives demonstrate our commitment to reaching underserved communities and ensuring that everyone, regardless of their circumstances, has access to essential eye care services.
