PRESENTATION OF BLANK MEDIA LEVY ROYALTIES

Today, the Copyright Society of Malawi (COSOMA) proudly celebrates another milestone in empowering Malawi's creative industry through the presentation of the 2025/2026 (April 2025 - March 2026) Blank Media Levy Royalties.

Blank Media Levy is a form of compensation provided to creators for the private copying of their copyrighted works. The levy is collected by the Society in collaboration with the Malawi Revenue Authority (MRA). This is done from the importation of storage devices capable of copying music, films, books and other protected works.

This year's disbursement of over MK1.8 billion demonstrates our unwavering commitment to protecting intellectual property rights, rewarding creativity, and contributing to the growth of Malawi's creative economy in line with the aspirations of Malawi 2063.

Congratulations to the top earners and all beneficiaries.
