CHAKWERA RECEIVES LETTERS OF CREDENCE FROM EGYPT AND EU

His Excellency, Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera, President of the Republic of Malawi, on Monday received Letters of Credentials from two residential diplomats at Kamuzu Palace in the City of Lilongwe.

The envoys that presented their letters are Mrs. Rasha Hamday Hussein from the Arab Republic of Egypt; and Mr. Daniel Aristi Gaztelumendi, Ambassador Designate of the delegation of the European Union (EU).

Speaking to the media after the presentation, Rasha Hamday Hussein from the Arab Republic of Egypt said the two countries discussed many areas of cooperation on how to boost the bilateral relations between the two countries, "and we have agreed to work more in the areas of infrastructure, energy, agriculture and health."

"The first task will be to register the Egyptian medicine in Malawi market and to allow the Egyptian medicine to enter the market, and also to cooperate in the fields of agriculture, health, and infrastructure. Many projects may be dams, roads and bridges, and also in the area of health, there will be training programs Inshallah, and we are looking forward to be successful in my mission to boost the bilateral relations and to enhance the cooperation between the two countries," she said.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Nancy Tembo said Malawi and Egypt have agreed to share notes in the areas of health, energy, military cooperation, as well as irrigation farming expertise.

"We already have a very cordial relationship between the people of Malawi and Egypt but we want to take a step further in the areas such as agriculture, mining, military cooperation and irrigation farming," said Tembo.

CHAKWERA COMMISSIONS SKC HIGHWAY WITH CALL TO EMULATE LATE VP VALUES

His Excellency, Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera, President of the Republic of Malawi has officially commissioned Saulos Chilima Highway and Mzimba Street at the Kamuzu Central Hospital Interchange, in the capital city of Lilongwe.

President Chakwera announced the name of the multibillion Kwacha highway, which is named after the country’s late Vice President, Dr Saulos Klaus Chilima, in June this year.

In his speech President Chakwera highlighted the Vice President’s pristine work ethic and encouraged all Malawians to exemplify his philosophy as this is the only way Malawi can grow and achieve the kind of infrastructure development that has been showcased today, with the completion of the Saulos Klaus Chilima Highway.

He underscored the need for the country to adopt the work values of Chilima and apply them to their daily undertakings in order to constantly improve and grow.

President Chakwera and the First Lady, Madame Monica Chakwera, toured the completed Highway and Mzimba Street on foot, before proceeding to the corporate ceremony where he was briefed and unveiled a symbolic plaque.

CHAKWERA ENDOWS ZOMBA WITH NEW STADIUM

His Excellency, Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera, President of the Republic of Malawi is now in Zomba where he has officially unveiled a 20,000 capacity, stadium.

The new Zomba Stadium is expected to positively impact sports development and enhance community activities and engagement in the area, offering a modern facility fit to host both local and national events.

The facility which has been constructed in phases, with the last phase entailing the construction of the last spectator stands to the north of the structure, will play a key role in youth empowerment and talent development.

This initiative is part of President Chakwera's broader efforts to boost infrastructure development, with a view to enhancing socioeconomic prospects.

Earlier in the day President Chakwera also inaugurated the newly established District Commissioner’s Office Complex in Thyolo.

CHAKWERA UNVEILS THYOLO DISTRICT OFFICE COMPLEX

His Excellency, Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera, President of the Republic of Malawi, has officially inaugurated the new state of art, Thyolo District Council Office Complex in Thyolo District.

The K7.9 billion investment comprises a four-story building designed to house various government services, including the Immigration Department's offices for passport issuance.

Accompanied by First Lady Madam Monica Chakwera, President Chakwera was welcomed by several government officials before proceeding to a briefing, symbolic ribbon cutting and unveiling of a plaque signifying the official opening of the facility, as well taking a tour of the building.

Construction work, carried out by China Civils Construction Company, was funded by the Malawi Government, reflecting a commitment to improving public infrastructure and services in all parts of the country.

This project is expected to facilitate better governance and service delivery.
