CHAKWERA RECEIVES LETTERS OF CREDENCE FROM EGYPT AND EU
His Excellency, Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera, President of the Republic of Malawi, on Monday received Letters of Credentials from two residential diplomats at Kamuzu Palace in the City of Lilongwe.
The envoys that presented their letters are Mrs. Rasha Hamday Hussein from the Arab Republic of Egypt; and Mr. Daniel Aristi Gaztelumendi, Ambassador Designate of the delegation of the European Union (EU).
Speaking to the media after the presentation, Rasha Hamday Hussein from the Arab Republic of Egypt said the two countries discussed many areas of cooperation on how to boost the bilateral relations between the two countries, "and we have agreed to work more in the areas of infrastructure, energy, agriculture and health."
"The first task will be to register the Egyptian medicine in Malawi market and to allow the Egyptian medicine to enter the market, and also to cooperate in the fields of agriculture, health, and infrastructure. Many projects may be dams, roads and bridges, and also in the area of health, there will be training programs Inshallah, and we are looking forward to be successful in my mission to boost the bilateral relations and to enhance the cooperation between the two countries," she said.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Nancy Tembo said Malawi and Egypt have agreed to share notes in the areas of health, energy, military cooperation, as well as irrigation farming expertise.
"We already have a very cordial relationship between the people of Malawi and Egypt but we want to take a step further in the areas such as agriculture, mining, military cooperation and irrigation farming," said Tembo.
