Creating Better Learning Spaces for Malawi’s Children
The Malawi Gaming and Lotteries Authority (MAGLA) has supported efforts to provide a safer and more conducive learning environment for learners at Mpatsa Primary School in Nsanje District.
Following the destruction of the school by Cyclone Freddy in March 2023, over 2,600 learners have been facing difficult learning conditions, with some using temporary shelters and others learning under trees.
In response to this challenge, MAGLA has purchased land for the relocation and construction of Mpatsa Primary School and a Teacher Development Centre (TDC), with the investment aimed at improving access to quality education and supporting the wellbeing of learners and teachers.
Speaking during the handover ceremony, MAGLA Director General Muchanankhwaye Mpuluka reaffirmed the Authority’s commitment to supporting initiatives that uplift communities and improve lives.
“Children deserve to learn in an environment that is safe, dignified and conducive for their development,” he said.
MAGLA remains committed to using the Gaming and Lotteries Fund to support social development initiatives that create meaningful impact in communities across Malawi.
