❤️ Episode Nineteen ❤️

🎺 Young Dreamer 🎺

The music blasted through the speakers, filling the spacious training room with a heavy beat.

A wall of mirrors stretched across one side of the room, reflecting MacDonald and the other boys as they moved through the choreography. Their sneakers struck the polished floor in perfect rhythm, squeaking whenever they changed direction.

“Five, six, seven, eight!”

MacDonald stepped forward, his body moving effortlessly with the music. Beside him, the other boys followed every move, their faces focused as they repeated the routine they had been practicing for days.

Several compact speakers were neatly mounted into the ceiling. At the front stood a sleek microphone stand, while a professional keyboard rested on a dedicated stand beside the mirrored wall. A row of neatly arranged water bottles sat on a low refreshment table, with folded towels stacked beside them, ready for the boys between rehearsals.

When the music stopped, the boys froze.

For a moment, the only sound was their heavy breathing.

MacDonald bent forward, resting his hands on his knees.

“Again.”

A collective groan rose from the boys.

“You said that was the last one,” one of them complained.

MacDonald straightened and wiped the sweat from his forehead with his towel.

“And now I'm saying it wasn't.”

The boys exchanged tired looks before reluctantly taking their positions again.

“But aren't we pushing ourselves too hard?” another boy asked.

MacDonald placed the towel back on the table.

“Max, we don't have enough time. Our tour is in a few days, and I bet you won't like it if we mess up.”

“Alright.” Max threw up his hands. “You win.”

“In your positions!”

“One—”

Ding!

The doorbell chimed.

All the boys turned toward the door.

“Who could that be?” Ferguson asked.

From the end of the line, Biden raised his hand.

“I ordered some food.”

MacDonald stared at him, his mouth falling open.

“Are you serious, dude?”

“Sorry.” Biden shrugged.

“Whatever.” MacDonald reached for a bottle of water. “I think this is where our rehearsal ends today.”

The boys exchanged relieved smiles.

Biden hurried to the door and opened it.

“Come in.”

“Good grief, Biden. You know we don't just invite anyone in—”

The bottle slipped from MacDonald's hand.

Water splashed across the floor.

The sound drew everyone's attention.

MacDonald's lips parted as he stared at the delivery girl standing in the doorway.

“Hello.”

Brielle stepped into the studio with two food bags in her hands.

Ignoring the bottle on the floor, MacDonald hurried toward her.

“May I?”

He took one of the bags from her.

“Oh, no, plea—”

Brielle's eyes met MacDonald's.

“It's you?”

The other boys fell silent, their attention shifting between the two.

“Well, yeah.”

He took the bag from her.

“I didn't expect to see you here.”

Brielle held the other bag with both hands.

He leaned closer, his voice becoming lighter.

“You know that should be my line, right?”

Brielle laughed softly.

“I told you I was an idol.”

“Oh, yes, you did.”

Her eyes softened.

“Sorry about that.”

MacDonald waved it off.

“It's nothing. By the way…”

He paused as they placed the food on the refreshment table.

“I went back to the hospital that day, but you had already been discharged.”

The boys slowly drifted toward the mirrored wall, pretending to busy themselves with their phones and water bottles while keeping an eye on the two.

Brielle lowered her gaze.

“Yeah. And thank you for that day.”

An awkward silence followed.

MacDonald rubbed the back of his neck.

“Um… I tried calling your number, but it wouldn't go through.”

Brielle's gaze dropped.

“Oh. My phone. I lost it.”

“When?”

He raised an eyebrow.

“Why didn't you get another one right away? I know your family is rich enough to buy a whole phone company.”

He nudged her shoulder playfully.

Brielle's smile faded.

She looked away, swallowing the ache that suddenly tightened in her chest.

“I guess you're right.”

MacDonald's expression changed.

“I went to your house yesterday after I came across that article about you and Vihaan, but I couldn't find you.”

He swallowed.

“And here you are… working as a delivery girl.”

His voice softened.

“Is everything okay?”

Brielle stared at the floor, picking at her fingers.

“Brielle?”

He reached toward her hand.

Brielle took a small step back.

“I need to go. I have more deliveries to make.”

“But…”

She forced a smile.

“You have a nice studio, though.”

MacDonald's gaze softened as he watched her.

His eyes followed hers toward the piano.

“Do you know how to play it?”

“Well, I used to have one when I was little.”

“You can come by and play in your free time.”

Brielle spun around, her eyes brightening.

“Really?”

“Of course.”

He gave her a playful look.

“Honestly, thank you. I'll stop by some other time.”

“Bye,” she said, waving.

“Bye.”

He waved back.

Brielle turned toward the door, her eyes wandering across the room one last time—the microphone, the keyboard, the mirrors…

“Hey! Watch out—”

BANG!

Brielle hit her head against the door.

“I'm okay!” she exclaimed, rubbing her forehead.

MacDonald burst into soft laughter.

“I guess you are,” he teased.

Brielle shook her head, opened the door and hurried out.

The smile remained on MacDonald's face even after she had disappeared.

His friends slowly moved toward him.

“Hello!” Biden waved a hand in front of his face.

MacDonald's smile vanished, replaced by a frown.

“What?”

“Care to explain what just happened?” Max asked, folding his arms.

MacDonald turned toward the refreshment table and began taking the food out of the bags.

“It seems you have a crush on her,” Ferguson said.

MacDonald immediately turned toward him.

“Yeah. I have a huge crush on her.”

The boys stared at him.

“Tell me, who wouldn't have a crush on such a pretty girl?”

Three of them gasped.

“Max, I think MacDonald has a high fever,” Biden said.

Max immediately rushed toward the first-aid kit.

“Wait!”

He grabbed a bottle of water and hurried back with a couple of paracetamol tablets.

“Say, ‘ahh.’”

MacDonald chuckled, pushed his hand away and walked off.

He stopped halfway and turned back toward them.

“The next time she comes here, let her use the studio uninterrupted.”

His eyes fell on Biden.

“And send me the address of the restaurant you ordered from.”

He winked before disappearing through the washroom door.

“Oh, someone is lovesick,” Ferguson said.

“Yeah,” Max replied. “Tell me about it.”

They all stood staring toward the washroom door.

🎺 YD SINGERS' MANSION 🎺

The YD Singers had three mansions—one for the boys, one for the girls, and another shared mansion for occasions when they needed to train together overnight.

As rain faintly tapped against the roof, Skye sat on the stairs, her eyes fixed on her phone.

Down in the living room, Romeo, Evander and Aiden were playing cards while Adrian sat nearby reading a book.

In the kitchen, Jade hummed softly as she chopped onions on a cutting board.

Adeline was nowhere in sight.

Neither was Vihaan.

Kian sat comfortably on the couch, watching Noelle walk toward the refrigerator.

As Noelle opened it, Jade put down the knife and walked over.

Noelle's attention remained on the fridge.

“What is it?”

“Um… I've not seen Brielle in days. I've tried calling her, but the line won't go through. I've been to your house, and every time, your sisters give me the same response.”

Jade mimicked them.

“We're not Brielle's guardians.”

Noelle shut the refrigerator with a sigh and rolled her eyes.

“So?”

“I just miss her. And I was hoping to know if she is—”

“Jade.”

Noelle cut her off.

“I am not Brielle's guardian either. You know Brielle and I are like oil and water, so please.”

Noelle brushed past her.

Jade folded her arms and clicked her tongue.

“I don't know what Kian sees in that girl.”

Her eyes quickly fell on Kian.

Her expression softened.

She tilted her head, biting her lower lip.

“Isn't he just cute?”

“Jade! I'm starving!” Romeo yelled from the living room.

His voice snapped her back to reality.

Jade scoffed and loosened her arms before returning to the kitchen.

“Arrrgh!”

Skye suddenly screamed as she jumped to her feet.

The cards slipped from the boys' hands.

Jade nearly dropped her knife.

Everyone turned toward Skye.

“What is it, Skye?” Romeo asked.

Skye rushed down the stairs toward Kian.

“Oh my God, Kian! You just got twenty million followers in a few days!”

Her eyes widened with excitement.
Silence followed, everyone's reached for their phones

“Oh, it's true,” Evander said, his jaw dropping.

“Look at the comments,” Alessia said as she moved closer to Skye.

🎻 LAWRENCE IS HANDSOME, AN ANGEL WITH AN ANGELIC HEART. 🎻

🎻 OH HAIL, LAWRENCE, THE WARM-HEARTED ONE OF YD SINGERS. 🎻

🎻 OH, LAWRENCE, CAN'T YOU MARRY ME? 🎻

Jade giggled as Alessia read the comments aloud.

🎻 I BELIEVE HE'S THE ONE WHO TALKED VIHAAN INTO APOLOGIZING. 🎻

“What?”

Vihaan's voice came from the stairs.

Everyone turned.

Vihaan and Adeline walked down together.

“Who wrote that comment?”

His patience was beginning to wear thin.

He approached Alessia and peeked at the phone.

A chuckle escaped him before his gaze settled on Kian.

“You must feel on top of the world, right?”

Kian stood from the chair, his brows drawing together.

“What do you mean by that?”

“Well, it's nothing.”

Vihaan shrugged.

“But I just hate that you're getting all the praise for my hard made decision “

A grin appeared on his face.

“So you influenced me to apologize?”

“Oh, come on, Vee. You know how fans react sometimes.”

“Yeah, yeah.”

Vihaan walked away toward the studio.

“Don't mind him. He's just being sarcastic,” Kian said as he sat back down.

Jade leaned toward Adeline.

“Still crushing on Vihaan?”

Adeline glanced at her over her shoulder before looking away.

“You better stop crushing on him. Vihaan belongs to my friend.”

“Tsk, tsk.”

Adeline turned toward Jade with a smirk.

“I guess you've not heard the news.”

She crossed her arms.

“My parents are currently discussing an engagement with Mr. Montale.”

Jade's eyes widened.

“What?!”

“You and Vihaan?” Skye asked.

“I need to confirm this from Vihaan,” Romeo said, already heading toward the studio.

Evander hurried after him.

Skye and Alessia walked toward the kitchen while Adrian and Aiden returned to their card game.

Throughout it all, Kian's eyes remained on Noelle.

“Noelle?”

She didn't answer.

“Noelle.”

He called again.

Noelle turned and walked toward the corridor.

Kian hurried after her and caught her hand.

“What is it?” she snapped.

“What's wrong with you? Why are you ignoring my calls? Do you know how much that hurts?”

Noelle yanked her hand away.

She looked away for a moment and drew a slow breath through her nose before facing him again.

“Who cares if it hurts or not?”

“What really is wrong with you?” Kian asked. “What did I even do to deserve this?”

Noelle closed the distance between them and looked deep into his eyes.

“Have you really forgotten what you did?”

Kian blinked.

“Well, let me remind you.”

She folded her arms.

“I gave you a chance to apologize, but you were too stubborn. It seems you enjoyed holding that girl's hand.”

Her voice tightened.

“It seems you enjoyed being her sudden superhero.”

She paused.

“I guess you're husband material, just like the fans are saying.”

Noelle stepped back.

Kian dragged a hand through his hair and closed his eyes for a moment before looking at her again.

“Fine. I'm sorry for helping that girl. Can we be at peace now?”

“That's it?”

“What more do you want? I thought all you wanted was an apology.”

“Yeah. If it were just any other girl, it would have been okay.”

She groaned.

“But it's Brielle.”

“Brielle?”

Kian stared at her.

“You know her name?”

Noelle's heart skipped.

She quickly looked away and swallowed.

“No. I don't know her.”

“Guys, it's time to practice!” Alessia shouted from the living room.

“See you.”

Noelle hurried away.

Kian remained in the corridor, staring after her.

From the mini-kitchen, Jade watched him, her expression slowly changing.

She looked from Kian to the direction Noelle had disappeared.

Then she narrowed her eyes.

❤️Episode Eighteen❤️

🎺Young Dreamer🎺

As Mr. Roswell's fist hit the wall, a sharp crack echoed through the room.

At the end of the line, Jade's face tightened, her shoulders tensing as though she had felt the blow herself.

“At this moment, I've begun to feel sorry for the wall,” she whispered to Skye.

Skye glanced at Jade before giggling.

The sound immediately caught everyone's attention.

“What's funny?” Mr. Roswell demanded.

Skye bit her lower lip and looked down.

With a deep breath, the manager shook his head.

“Can't you guys give me a break? We've just dealt with Vihaan's madness, and instead of practicing, you're busy wrestling.”

“It's Noelle who started it,” Adeline said.

Noelle glared at her.

“See who is talking. You slapped me first.”

“Girls!” Mr. Roswell barked.

“You see, I'm not here to listen to your blame games. The security guards alerted me about this situation.”

He paused, looking from one girl to another.

“You never know who's watching. One of those security members could report this straight to the council. And honestly, I wonder why it's always you two.”

He raised an eyebrow at Adeline and Noelle.

“What don't you two ever agree on?”

Adeline and Noelle exchanged glances before looking away and scoffing.

“Huh. You wouldn't understand,” Jade muttered.

“Then make me understand.”

“Well, it's because—”

Both Adeline and Noelle slapped a hand over Jade's mouth.

“Hey!”

Jade stepped backward, glaring at them.

“You know I ain't crazy enough to tell him,” she said, her brows knitted together.

The two girls slowly lowered their hands.

They all turned toward Mr. Roswell again.

He rubbed the back of his neck.

“Gosh. This is exhausting.”

Silence settled over the room for a moment.

Then Mr. Roswell spoke.

“Let this be the last time something like this happens. If it happens again, I'll call the discipline council. Am I clear?”

“Yes,” they answered, barely audible.

“I can't hear you.”

Noelle cursed under her breath. Adeline did the same.

“Yes, sir!” they chorused.

“Good. Now I want you to practice. I'll be watching through the cameras.”

He looked at Skye.

“Skye, since you were the second lead when Maeve was around, take the lead.”

“What?” Adeline and Noelle said at the same time.

Mr. Roswell turned toward them.

“What?”

The girls fell silent beneath his glare.

“If you think my decision is bad, you're free to leave the group.”

With those words, Mr. Roswell walked out.

“Yeah!” Jade exclaimed, jumping onto Skye.

Skye pushed her away.

“Oh, come on, Skye. Who knows? Maybe this is one step toward you becoming the leader of the group.”

A shiver ran down Skye's spine.

“Come on, Jade. You know that's a huge responsibility for me. I'm the youngest among all of you. How am I supposed to lead everyone?”

Jade wrapped an arm around her shoulders.

“Aww, our baby thinks leadership comes with an age requirement.”

She ruffled Skye's hair.

“Skye, others are older than us and still behave like brainless chickens.”

Adeline cleared her throat.

“Are you referring to me as a chicken?”

She stared at Jade as though she had just tested the last of her patience.

Jade removed her arm from Skye.

“Oh, please, Adeline. The world does not revolve around you.”

She took Skye's hand.

“Come on. Let's go and start practicing.”

The two girls walked toward the huge glass wall. Alessia followed slowly, leaving Adeline and Noelle behind.

Noelle walked over to Adeline.

“As much as I hate your guts, I don't want to be called before the council either.”

She folded her arms.

“So, until I take the role of leader, I guess we'll have to behave.”

With one last glance at Adeline, Noelle walked over to the others.

Adeline remained where she stood, her gaze following Noelle until it grew colder.

🎺 BREWING LOVE RESTAURANT 🎺

The restaurant was packed. Every table was occupied, and the narrow spaces between them barely gave the waiters room to move.

Trays passed overhead as they hurried from table to table, while plates clattered and glasses chimed beneath the constant buzz of conversation. From the kitchen came the sharp calls of orders, followed by the swinging doors opening and closing without pause.

A short distance away, Brielle stood outside, watching through the transparent glass.

In her hand was the plastic bag she had received from the lady earlier.

Freshly changed and wearing clean clothes, Brielle somehow found herself standing outside the restaurant.

One night in the hospital.

Another night spent... somewhere she had to leave before the break of dawn.

And today…

She stared at the restaurant.

“Why am I here again?” she whispered.

Her eyes dropped to the plastic bag in her hand.

Slowly, she turned around.

A hand landed on her shoulder.

“Brielle, dear.”

She quickly turned.

“Hi, Mrs. Rose.”

She forced a smile.

Mrs. Rose studied her from head to toe. She held her gaze on Brielle's face for a moment before releasing a quiet breath.

“You've been standing out here for a while. Why didn't you come in?”

“I'm... well...”

“Is everything okay?”

“I'm good.”

Before Mrs. Rose could say anything else, a drop of water landed on her shoulder.

Then another.

She looked up.

Dark clouds covered the sky, heavy with rain.

“Come on, Brielle. You'll be soaked out here.”

Before Brielle could protest, Mrs. Rose took her hand and pulled her inside.

They passed through the crowded restaurant, barely catching the attention of the customers, before Mrs. Rose led Brielle toward the back.

“Well, we're currently busy. Would you mind lending us a hand?”

Her eyes softened.

“Well, why not?”

Brielle smiled back.

“Okay. Leave your things in the locker room and put on your apron.”

After changing into her work uniform, Brielle tied the apron around her waist.

She stood in front of the mirror.

The corners of her lips lifted, but the smile never reached her eyes.

“Come on, Brielle. You can do this.”

She raised a fist.

“Fighting!”

With that, she joined the rest of the team.

🎺 HOURS LATER 🎺

“Brielle, it's almost knock-off time. Can I and the rest of us go and freshen up?”

Jessie approached Brielle.

Brielle looked around the restaurant.

Only one table was still occupied.

“Sure. I'll manage.”

“Thank you.”

Jessie blew her a kiss before walking away with the other girls.

With a cleaning rag in her hand, Brielle bent over the table and wiped it clean, pushing the scraps of food onto her tray.

“Honestly, I hate weekend classes,” one of the girls at the table said.

‘I wish I were in school, ‘ Brielle thought.

“You're right, Nala. YD High sometimes sucks. How could they tell us to come to school even on Saturday?”

The girl laughed.

“Well, the only nice thing about Saturday is that you can sneak into the YD Singers' private class and listen to them sing.” Nala said.

Brielle's hand tightened around the rag.

It stopped moving.

“Oh, if only I had an angelic voice. It wouldn't have been a problem becoming a member.”

“And maybe if my parents were alive, that wouldn't have been a problem either.’

A bitter smile touched Brielle's lips.

“Whatever. Let's go. Looks like our drivers are here.”

“Hey, waitress!”

One of the girls raised her hand.

Brielle didn't hear her.

‘If Mom were alive, would I be living my dream life?’

‘Attending YD High. Chatting with my friends after school. Going to karaoke. Attending Saturday practices as a YD Singers member.’

She stared blankly at the table, lost in her thoughts.

The three girls exchanged glances.

“Excuse me!”

Brielle je**ed back to reality.

“Oh, sorry.”

She hurried toward the table.

Their hair fell freely over their shoulders. They wore the familiar YD High uniform—black fitted blazers with gold piping, neatly pressed white shirts, blue ties, fitted black skirts that fell just around their knees, black socks, and polished boots.

Brielle stared for a moment.

“So beautiful.”

The girls exchanged confused looks.

“Excuse me?”

Brielle quickly bowed.

“Sorry about that.”

One of the girls pulled out some cash and placed it on the table.

“Keep the change.”

“Thank you. See you next time.”

The girls picked up their school bags and walked out of the restaurant.

Outside, three cars waited for them.

Brielle watched as the girls hugged before getting into separate cars and driving away.

She carefully gathered the plates onto her tray before carrying them to the kitchen and placing them in the sink.

Then she walked back to the table and began wiping it again.

Her mind wandered.

She imagined herself as a little girl, dancing and playing with her siblings while her mother watched.

For a moment, the memory felt warm.

Then it disappeared.

The rag slipped from her fingers.

Brielle stared at it on the floor.

Her chest tightened.

“Why do I feel empty now?”

Her breathing became uneven.

She bent down, picked up the rag, and continued scrubbing the table slowly.

A small chuckle escaped her lips.

“Come on Brielle, you don't even have a boyfriend”

“But anyways”

She continued.

🎻It's not what he's made for🎻

🎻What was I made for?🎻

She pressed the rag harder against the table. She untied her apron and handed it on a chair.

“Brielle.”

Mrs. Rose's voice startled her.

“Oh, Mrs. Rose. Just a moment.”

She rushed to the cashier's desk and handed Mrs. Rose the girls' payment.

“I didn't notice you were around,” Brielle said.

“Well, I just stepped out for a moment.”

Mrs. Rose counted the money before looking at Brielle.

“This seems to be your tip.”

She handed her the money.

With slightly sweaty hands, Brielle accepted it.

“I'm done balancing everything, and everyone is waiting for me in the car. Let's go.”

Brielle's heart tightened.

She turned toward the glass doors.

The streetlights were already on.

“It's already night.”

“You know what, Brielle?”

Mrs. Rose paused.

“I've been thinking about putting up a poster looking for someone who can wash the dishes at night. It's stressful for the kitchen staff to always be the last ones waiting to be taken home.”

She hesitated.

“I wanted someone who could sleep here. Can you recommend anyone?”

Brielle looked at her.

“Um... Mrs. Rose?”

“Yes?”

“If you don't mind... can I wash the dishes tonight?”

Mrs. Rose raised an eyebrow.

“You?”

“I mean, you can go and drive the others home. Don't worry about me.”

“Are you sure?”

Brielle nodded.

“Ye... yeah.”

A small smile curled across her lips.

“Okay, if you insist. There's a small room at the corner of the restaurant. You can sleep there.”

“Thank you, Mrs. Rose.”

Brielle bowed.

“See you tomorrow.”

“Bye!”

Mrs. Rose walked out.

The door closed behind her.

Brielle slowly lowered herself into a chair.

She looked around.

A moment ago, the restaurant had been filled with voices, laughter, clattering plates, and hurried footsteps.

Now…

Nothing.

The place seemed enormous.

Brielle swallowed.

“You still get through, Brielle.”

Her voice sounded small in the empty restaurant.

She sat there for a moment before slowly getting back up.

❤️Episode seventeen ❤️

🎺Young Dreamer 🎺

The morning breeze brushed cool fingers across Jolene's skin, carrying the fresh scent of wet soil and flowers that had drunk their fill from the night's heavy rain.

Water droplets clung to the leaves, falling one by one whenever the wind stirred the branches. Somewhere in the grass, insects hummed lazily, their tiny sounds blending with the occasional drip of rainwater from the trees.

Above her, the dark clouds were slowly breaking apart, revealing patches of blue. Sunlight slipped through the gaps, catching on the flowers and puddles scattered around the garden.

Just a few feet from the storeroom, Jolene stood with her arms spread wide, breathing deeply as if she could pull the freshness of the morning straight into her lungs. Her eyes remained closed, a small smile resting on her lips.

“Good morning to a new beginning,” she murmured.

When she opened her eyes, one hand dropped to her side while the other remained raised.

A small black book rested between her fingers.

PASSPORT.

Jolene brought it closer, her smile widening.

“Brielle, dear...” she whispered, running her thumb over the cover. “America awaits you tonight.”

She pressed a small kiss against the passport before tucking it carefully against her chest.

Then, humming under her breath, she headed for the storeroom.

“Princess Brielle?”

Silence.

“Brielle, sweetheart?”

Jolene knocked softly.

“Honey, can I come in?”

Still no answer.

Her brows slowly knitted together. She reached for the doorknob and twisted it open.

The moment she stepped inside, a chilly draft swept over her.

Her smile disappeared.

A schoolbag sat abandoned on top of a pile of boxes. Brielle's uniform lay crumpled on the floor, while her bedsheet and blanket were tangled together beside the small mattress.

Jolene stared at the mess.

“What a mess.”

She sighed and walked farther into the room.

“Brielle?”

She checked the bathroom.

Empty.

Jolene's lips parted.

“Where could she have gone?”

A sudden honk exploded outside.

She hurried out of the storeroom and crossed the garden toward the front of the main house.

A white Porsche Macan came speeding through the gate.

Jolene barely had time to move.

The car screeched to a stop inches away from her.

She stumbled backward, landing in the flower bed. Her elbow struck the low garden wall, and the passport slipped from her fingers.

“What the hell?”

Her hand flew to her chest as her heart hammered against her ribs.

The driver's door opened.

Noelle stepped out.

She slammed the door behind her, making the car rock slightly before settling.

Dressed in a pink crop top and a white skirt that stopped two inches above her knees, she looked completely unbothered by the near accident. Black shoes completed her outfit.

She didn't even glance at the flowers Jolene had just fallen into.

“Mom,” she said, her voice low and impatient. “Where is she?”

Jolene slowly climbed out of the flower bed, rubbing her elbow.

“Can't you apologize first?”

Noelle rolled her eyes.

“Mom, this is not the time to demand some petty apology.”

She paused, her expression hardening.

“Where is that orphan who calls herself my sister?”

Jolene's face changed.

“What did she do this time?”

Noelle stared at her in disbelief.

She turned toward the house.

But before she could take another step, Jolene caught her wrist.

“She isn't there.”

“Then where is she?”

Noelle yanked her hand free.

Jolene let out a baffled sigh.

“What did she do?”

Noelle blinked at her mother for a moment, her lips parted.

Suddenly, she spun around and walked back to her car.

She rested her head against the roof as she reached into her pocket and pulled out her phone.

“Here.”

She handed it to her mother without lifting her head.

Jolene swallowed.

She looked at her daughter, then at the phone. Slowly, she reached for it.

For a moment, she simply stared between the phone and Noelle.

VIHAAN MONTALE, THE LEADER OF YD SINGERS, HAS APOLOGIZED TO THE FAN HE HUMILIATED A FEW DAYS AGO

Beneath the headline was a picture of Vihaan, smiling from ear to ear. His arm rested around Brielle's shoulder while she stared intensely at him.

Thud!

The phone hit the ground.

Noelle turned to face her mother, her expression changing.

“You see now?” she asked. “That girl is trying to steal my spotlight. What if people find out that she's my sister?”

Her body trembled.

“I just don't want to be compared to her. It was crazy when people realized those damn twins sleeping upstairs were my sisters. The first question was–”

“Do they know how to sing?” Jolene cut her off.

Their eyes met.

“That's exactly it, Mom.”

Noelle breathed hard.

“I'm lucky the twins' voices aren't even soothing enough to put a baby to sleep. But... but Brielle's voice, Mom.”

Noelle crossed the distance between them. She took her mother's wrist between her hands and rubbed it gently.

“Mom... we have to do something about this.”

Her eyes flickered nervously.

Jolene pulled Noelle into her arms and slowly rubbed her back.

“It's okay. Everything is in order. Once Brielle comes back home, all this will be history.”

Noelle let out a bitter sob.

🎺 UNDER THE RAIN TREE 🎺

As the cool breeze blew, Brielle brushed a few strands of hair from her face and tucked them behind her ear.

The neighborhood was as quiet as always, with only a few people passing by. Brielle let out a slow breath, her shoulders slumping as she took another sip from her juice.

“You're here again?”

A shadow stood before her.

“Yeah.”

She didn't look up.

Silence stretched between them for a moment.

“You look drained, and your hair is a bit messy. And...”

The edge of the woman's lips lifted.

“Of course. I've been wearing it for three straight days.”

“What?”

At that moment, Brielle raised her head.

“I haven't been home for two days now.”

“Then your family might be worried about you.”

“Family?”

She let out a suppressed chuckle.

The woman remained silent, simply staring at her.

Brielle's fingers fidgeted around the juice bottle.

“Or perhaps I have no place to call home. Or...” She paused.

“A family to return to.”

She lowered her gaze.

“Maybe I just don't know what a home or family is anymore.”

A smile tugged at her lips, but her chest tightened. She blinked rapidly, fighting the tears gathering in her eyes.

“I don't even remember the last time I had a proper meal, let alone an apple slice.”

The woman walked away.

Brielle sniffed back her tears and remained beneath the tree until the woman returned a few minutes later.

“Here.”

Brielle slowly raised her head.

In the woman's hand was a plastic bag.

“It's one of my daughter's clothes from when she was a teenager. A girl is supposed to always look beautiful. Go to the sauna and take a shower. You might scare away the customers in this neighborhood.”

Brielle simply stared at her.

“And stop coming to this neighborhood looking all pitiful. I don't think your sister would be proud to see you like this,” the woman added.

Brielle's eyes widened slightly.

““My arm is still hurting”

The girl stood up and took the plastic bag from her.

This was the same woman who had witnessed Lila being kidnapped.

“Go and buy yourself something tasty as well.”

The woman turned around.

“And stop lurking around this neighborhood alone at night. It's dangerous for a girl like you.”

With those words, the woman walked back toward her shop.

Brielle looked into the plastic bag before raising her head toward the shop.

“Thank you,” she muttered.

She turned and took slow steps down the street.

🎺 VIHAAN'S ROOM 🎺

His back against the bed, Vihaan stared at the ceiling.

He breathed in and out for what felt like the tenth time.

“It's a beautiful Saturday morning,” Romeo had said.

After showing up with the crazy w**e drama and then waking up to a photo circulating online, how could this possibly be…

“A good morning?”

Vihaan scoffed.

“What's good about this Saturday?”

He threw his blanket aside and sat up straight.

“What really happened yesterday? Why is it that all I remember is driving that girl here, taking the w**e, and the next moment I'm on the bed, half-naked?”

He clasped his hands together and blew warm air into them.

“Vihaan!”

He threw himself backward onto the bed.

Thud!

The back of his head hit the headboard.

“Arrrgh!”

His scream nearly shook the room.

He raised a hand toward the back of his head, then stopped midway. Blinking hard, he sat back down.

His eyes shifted toward the door.

And then the memory returned.

Brielle struggling to keep him upright.

They moved in a zigzag, his face flushed.

When they reached the bed, they both fell onto it.

Seconds later, clothes were flying through the air.

“No!”

Vihaan brushed the memory away.

A sarcastic laugh escaped his lips.

“Nothing happened. I am Vihaan. Falling in love is the last thing I will ever do in my life. Not in this world.”

He paused.

“I will never even repeat the same mistake my father did”

“Love is a scam.”

His shoulders slumped.

He buried his face in his palms and closed his eyes.

🎺 YD HIGHSCHOOL STUDIO 🎺

The girls sat scattered around the room.

Skye had her arms folded tightly across her chest, her gaze fixed on the floor. Alessia stood with her back against the wall, her eyes fixed on Adeline, whose fingers tapped against her thigh. The soft rhythm was the only sound breaking the silence.

Jade shifted in her chair.

Everyone looked up.

Then, almost immediately, they looked away.

No one spoke.

The tension seemed to fill every corner of the room, heavy enough to make even the smallest movement feel loud.

Finally, Jade opened her mouth.

“Are you girls being serious right now? Isn't it time to celebrate?”

She continued before anyone could respond.

“Vihaan has apologized, and our image has been cleared. The YD stocks aren't even that bad, so why are you sulking?”

Her eyes moved from one member to the other.

Alessia pushed herself away from the wall and sat at a nearby desk.

“Jade is right. I don't understand why we're sulking.”

The slightly opened door swung fully open.

Noelle walked in, swaying her hips from side to side.

“I believe the one behind this gloomy event is none other than Adeline.”

Noelle stopped beside Adeline.

At once, Adeline stopped tapping her fingers against her thigh and gave Noelle her full attention.

“Noelle, I have no time for you,” she spat.

Noelle brushed a few strands of hair away from her face and clicked her tongue.

“Well, it's hard for us to visit the YD Singers' mansion. But some girl who isn't even a member went there before some of us. Why wouldn't Miss Ade be angry?”

She paused.

“Moreover, from what I've heard, that girl was all alone with him.”

She batted her lashes.

Adeline sprang up from her seat.

“Noelle, don't p**s me off.”

Jade immediately stepped between them.

“Girls, now is not the time for this.”

She turned toward Noelle.

“But honestly... how is she doing? It's been days, and I can't get in touch with Brielle.”

Noelle's eyes quickly scanned the room.

“Brielle? Who is Brielle?” Skye asked.

Adeline gave Noelle a knowing look.

“You are worse than me, Noelle. Hiding the fact that that girl is your—”

“Shut up, Adeline!” Noelle snapped.

Alessia and Skye exchanged puzzled glances.

Noelle and Adeline stared at each other without blinking.

Jade waved her hands at them.

“Girls, this isn't the time to be fighting. We need to practice.”

“Tell this loser to stop picking a fight,” Adeline groaned.

With a soft chuckle, Noelle retorted,

“Says someone who has already been rejected more than five times by her crush.”

She folded her arms across her chest.

“Tell me, Ade, who is the real loser now?”

Smack!

Jade, Skye, and Alessia gasped.

Noelle's lips parted, her eyes widening. Her left hand immediately flew to her right cheek.

“You... slapped me?”

“I can slap you again if you don't keep your dirty trap shut,” Adeline hissed.

The hand on Noelle's cheek slowly fell to her side.

“Dirty trap, right?”

Her voice dropped.

“Huh?”

Noelle shoved Jade aside.

Jade stumbled and fell to the ground.

Before she could even compose herself, Adeline and Noelle were already pulling each other's hair.
