The stand of HR on vaccination:
GET VACCINATED
The Association of Human Resource Professionals of Mauritius is calling upon all Human Resource Managers to motivate their employees to get vaccinated against COVID-19. We need to take into consideration only the guidance of the World Health Organisation and the Ministry of Health and Quality of Life-Mauritius. By now, we have nearly 100,000 Mauritians who have been vaccinated. We are aware of the side effects, such as few among us have had some fever, some have had body pain, some have had headache. And many of us have not had any of the above. But on the third day, we are all fine.
While the vaccines are available through the vaccination centers put in place by the Government of Mauritius and the private clinics also, we need to motivate our employees to get vaccinated so as to ensure business continuity. It is true that our employees have a choice and they cannot be forced to be vaccinated. Yet, it is our duty to convince them as we build the SAFE WORKPLACE. It is our responsibility to promote safer work and better working lives. This is a time to commit to safe cultures and places of work for HR to minimise risks (of illness, of contamination and of death) by protecting employees.
The well-being of our employees is of paramount importance. As caring managers and caring employers we have the responsibility to encourage vaccination against COVID-19. If we consider that some countries may deny access to their territories unless one has the COVID-19 vaccination passport, we then realize that the only way for inclusion is to get our employees vaccinated. HR Managers have been providing support to all employees during the lockdown and we now need to prepare for the post-lockdown by ensuring that our employees are vaccinated and are incapacitated to protect themselves, their families and their colleagues.
Our employees should feel safe to live their lives without fear, confusion, anxiety and misunderstandings (caused by pseudo experts). It we are all vaccinated, we know for certain that our business organization, our community and our neighborhood are properly protected. The Association of Human Resource Professionals of Mauritius is FOR vaccination against COVID-19. We need to work and we need to ensure that work benefits each and every employee, business, economy and society.
