A year of concrete political and humanitarian action since the Paris Call on 13 June 2025.

As the situation in the Middle East deteriorates, the ceasefire in Gaza remains fragile. Settlement activity in the West Bank is accelerating. The outbreak of a wider regional conflict has diverted attention. In the face of this, a lasting political solution to the conflict must be found.

🇫🇷 France continues to work with its partners towards a path to peace based on the two-state solution.

🌊 🇺🇳 The Ocean is our most precious common good.

One year after the United Nations Ocean Conference in Nice, France 🇫🇷 remains fully committed.

On this World Ocean Day, let’s recall the conference’s key achievements and take stock of new progress:

→ The entry into force of the treaty to protect the biodiversity in high seas (BBNJ), thanks to UNOC-3. France is now mobilising for the first Ocean COP, to be held in January 2027, and is working to identify the first marine protected areas in the high seas.

→ Strengthening the fight against illegal fishing, with several new countries joining international agreements. The momentum continues: under France’s presidency, G7 environment ministers adopted a declaration to intensify efforts against illegal fishing.

→ 63 strongly protected zones designated in France in 2025. Today, three new protected areas are established in the Bay of Audierne, Guadeloupe, and the French Southern and Antarctic Lands, bringing the share of French waters under strong protection to 14.68%—a crucial step toward our goal of 14.8% by the end of 2026.

→ Intensifying the fight against plastic pollution. Launch of the national plan “Zero Plastic Waste at Sea” 2026-2030 to continue combating pollution that suffocates marine ecosystems.

The Ocean regulates our climate, feeds billions of people, and hosts irreplaceable life. Protecting it means protecting ourselves.

One year after UNOC-3, France is leading by example and calling for collective action. States, scientists, businesses, and citizens: everyone must do their part to protect the Ocean. This fight unites us.

Russia likes to portray its military as “invincible.” But since 2014, Ukraine has exposed Russia to be more of a paper bear and in recent months has managed to stall Russia’s battlefield progress.
This video takes a closer look at three myths behind Russia’s “invincible” image:
▪ Myth 1: Russia is an unstoppable military force
▪ Myth 2: Russian firepower is so overwhelming that resistance is pointless
▪ Myth 3: Ukraine and its allies have already lost the war
Disinformation only works if people believe it. Don’t fall for myths!
