🚶‍♂️🏖️ New Signage Installed Along the Sliema Promenade

The Sliema Local Council has continued its efforts to improve public awareness and maintain the quality of our public spaces through the installation of new signage along the promenade and at the entrances to streets leading up from Tower Road.

These signs serve as a reminder of the regulations in place to help keep Sliema clean, safe, and enjoyable for everyone, while encouraging greater respect for our locality and its residents.

📍 Work is ongoing, and next week additional signage will be installed along the Ghar id-Dud area, extending all the way to Qui-Si-Sana, ensuring greater visibility and awareness across one of Sliema's busiest coastal stretches.

🤝 We thank residents and visitors for their cooperation and support in helping us preserve and protect our beautiful seaside locality.

🏊‍♂️🌊 EXILES BEACH IS SAFE FOR SWIMMING

Following direct communication with the Health Department, the Sliema Local Council can confirm that Exiles Beach is currently safe for swimming.

This information contradicts reports published earlier today by certain media outlets. Residents and visitors can therefore continue to enjoy Exiles Beach with peace of mind.

The Council remains committed to providing accurate and verified information to the public and will continue to monitor the situation closely in collaboration with the relevant authorities.

✂️🌳 Tree Maintenance Works Continue Across Sliema

Today, our landscaping contractor carried out tree pruning and maintenance works along the Sliema promenade and in various other landscaped areas around the locality.

Tree trimming is an important part of maintaining a healthy urban environment. This time of year is particularly suitable for pruning in Malta, as it helps trees recover more effectively, encourages healthy growth, improves air circulation through the canopy, and reduces the risk of branches becoming hazardous during periods of strong winds and adverse weather.

🌿 Regular maintenance also helps preserve the natural shape and health of our trees, ensuring that our public spaces remain safe, attractive, and enjoyable for residents and visitors alike.

ATTENTION

The following is the list of road closure permits for Wednesday 3rd June, 2026.

* You may now book your permits online
https://localpermits.gov.mt/

* Permits can only be issued for Monday to Friday from 9.30am until 5pm and Saturday 8am until 1pm according to availability.

* On the 1st and 3rd Friday of every month the Local Council does not issue permits for road closures, being glass collection day.

* Persons caught working without a permit or outside the permitted hours are to be held accountable and are to be fined according to the law.

🌳 Caring for Sliema’s Green Spaces 🌲

Healthy trees and well-maintained green areas are an essential part of what makes Sliema a more attractive and enjoyable place to live.

🚿 Our landscaping contractor has been carrying out regular watering of trees, plants, and landscaped areas across the locality to help them withstand the summer heat and continue to thrive.

✂️ At the same time, the annual tree pruning programme has commenced. This is the ideal time of year for the careful trimming and maintenance of trees, promoting healthy growth, improving safety, and enhancing the appearance of our public spaces.
