Next Friday 18th September 2026 is glass collection day ♻

It is very important that glass is taken out in a container that can be reused ☺️

Once the glass is collected the container must be taken back indoors 🙌

Esplora Interactive Science Centre

A piece of the cosmos has landed in Gżira 🌌

Malta’s first-ever armillary sphere has been inaugurated in Triq ix-Xatt, offering visitors a unique way to explore the movement of the Sun, seasons and time - while reflecting on humanity’s age-old fascination with the stars.

Crafted by Medina Steels with guidance from Perit Alexei Pace, the monument was created for the ESPLORA National STEM Community Fund in collaboration with the Eastern Regional Council, Gżira Local Council and the Astronomical Society of Malta.

🌍 Youth as Democracy Builders 🇪🇺

Last week, the Eastern Regional Council’s Cultural Manager took part in the ALDA International School, this year focusing on the important theme of Youth as Democracy Builders. 👥🗳️

Over the course of the intensive three-day programme, participants took part in a series of fascinating talks and interactive workshops 🎤💬, exploring youth democratic engagement, best practices, youth-centred policies, and the challenges posed by misinformation. 📱🔎

It was a valuable opportunity to exchange ideas 🤝, learn from experiences across Europe 🇪🇺, and reflect on how we can empower young people to play a stronger role in shaping our communities and our democracies. 🌱🏛️

A big thank you toALDA - European Association for Local Democracy for organising this fruitful and educational experience!

Today, Malta celebrates Victory Day, an important national holiday that commemorates not one, but three famous victories in its long history. 🏆

Today, we remember the victory against the Ottoman Empire in 1565, the victory against Napoleonic France in 1800, and the lifting of the siege following Italy’s surrender in 1943. 🎖️🎇
