🚨 VEHICLE FIRE – ŻEBBUĠ, MALTA 🚨

Earlier today, Civil Protection Malta firefighters from Fire Station 4 responded to a vehicle fire in Żebbuġ.

Upon arrival, crews found one internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicle and one electric vehicle (EV) engulfed in flames, with a third vehicle sustaining heat and fire damage.

Firefighters immediately commenced firefighting operations, successfully bringing the incident under control and extinguishing the fire. The area was subsequently made safe, with no injuries reported.

The CPD thanks The Malta Police Force and Transport Malta for their assistance and support throughout the incident.

Today marks another important milestone in strengthening Malta’s CPD capabilities with the inauguration of new emergency response vehicles for the Civil Protection Malta.

The €7 million investment includes:

🚒 2 Industrial Fire Appliances
☣️ 2 Decontamination Units
🚛 2 Hazmat Trucks

These state of the art vehicles will further enhance the Department’s operational readiness, emergency response efficiency, and capacity to protect the Maltese community during industrial incidents, hazardous material emergencies, and large-scale operations.

The CPD remains dedicated to serving the country with professionalism, preparedness, and resilience.

🚨 VEHICLE FIRE – ST. LUCIA 🚨

Yesterday evening, CPD firefighters from Station 4 responded to a vehicle fire following a road traffic collision involving an internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicle in St. Lucia.

The driver sustained injuries in the incident and was conveyed to hospital for further medical treatment.

Emergency crews worked efficiently to bring the situation under control and fully extinguish the fire, ensuring the area was made safe for all those involved.

The Civil Protection Malta extends its sincere thanks to The Malta Police Force and the Mater Dei Hospital Emergency Department for their valuable assistance and support on scene.

Earlier this evening, CPD firefighters from Station 3 responded to a vehicle fire involving an internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicle in Mellieħa.

Firefighters acted swiftly to contain and extinguish the blaze, and fortunately, no injuries were reported.

🚨 STRUCTURE FIRE – BIRKIRKARA

Yesterday, the CPD responded to a residential structure fire in Birkirkara.

Firefighters from Fire Stations 1, 2, 3, 4, 8, and 11 were deployed to the scene, where they carried out a long and delicate operation to successfully bring the fire under control and prevent further escalation.

One resident was assisted by emergency personnel and admitted to hospital for further treatment.

The Civil Protection Malta extends its sincere gratitude to the Emergency Department at Mater Dei Hospital, The Malta Police Force, and Enemalta plc for their invaluable assistance and continuous support throughout the operation.

🚨 SEA RESCUE – QBAJJAR, GOZO

Earlier this afternoon, the Civil Protection Department was alerted that five divers were unable to safely return to shore following a dive off Qbajjar, Gozo.

A coordinated rescue operation involving the Civil Protection Malta and Armed Forces of Malta (AFM) was immediately launched. Rescue teams from Fire Stations 6 and 7 were dispatched to the scene, where all five divers were successfully located and brought safely back to land.

The Civil Protection Department extends its appreciation to all responding entities for their swift coordination, professionalism, and assistance throughout the operation.
