CNMI Marine Monitoring Team

CNMI Marine Monitoring Team 14 years and counting of coral reef monitoring in the CNMI The MMT is comprised of marine biologists and environmental technicians.

The CNMI's Marine Monitoring Team (MMT) conducts scientific surveys throughout the archipelago, gathering data & information on the status of the coral reefs and seagrass beds. Data is collected on coral species diversity/colony populations, benthic percent cover, fish/macroinvertebrate abundances.

Ever wondered how coral reefs grow? Or what the purpose of seagrass is? Maybe you've noticed your favorite beach has gotten a lot smaller since you were a kid. If you've ever wondered about our island environment or are interested in learning more about natural resource management, then the 2019 DCRM Summer Internship is right for you!* Deadline to apply is TOMORROW March 15, 2019.

*To be eligible for the program applicant must be a U.S. citizen and a graduating high school senior or current college student. If applicant is younger than 18 years of age a police clearance is not required. Please contact DCRM at 664-8300 for more information.
