The Tea Art Professionals' Association of Macao (TAPAM) was founded in 2011 by a collective of individuals who are passionate about the study and promotion of tea culture to all. TAPAM was established to facilitate and nurture the development of Macau’s tea culture, with a vested interest in cultivating professionals that can perform tea ceremonies and etiquette related events. With the guidance of our president Ms.Pui Lan Chan (Mandy), we are rapidly expanding our customer base and promoting the diverse characteristics of Chinese and local Macau tea culture. For many years, the TAPAM has aimed at training professional tea specialists and technicians, leading students to obtain national vocational qualification certificates, and through professional learning, encouraging the younger generation to proudly promote the tea ceremony, tea ethics, tea art, and tea ceremony culture. At the same time, since Macau does not produce tea, the annual tea conference leads the trainees to study tours at tea mountains of other regions and guide students to learn about the growth, production, production and safety measurement (quality) of tea. In the past ten years, the TAPAM has established "HouKong Love Tea Day", "International Tea Culture Carnival-Macau", and the first "Macau Tea Specialists Selection Competition", "One Belt One Road: Tea Culture" and a lot of other mid-large events. We also went to various universities, gaming corporations, government agencies, and other local enterprises to conduct lectures, to constantly lecture local students to accept and embrace Chinese culture, and train local employees to improve their customer service to via learning Chinese etiquette and tea serving culture. Moreover, one of the main purposes of the events that we host is to encourage participants to slow down with their pace of life to enjoy the tranquility and peace from a cup of tea, and gain understanding of the connotation of Chinese culture. We introduce experts and scholars to Macau regularly for tea culture and experience exchange and promote the excellent Chinese traditional culture to the world. Since 2018 we have regularly sent youth representatives to participate in both national and international competitions such as;
- "MingXing Tea Specialists National Competition",
- "International Gong fu Tea Brewing Competition"
We have always focused on using Macau's tea history as a point of interest during competitions, where we achieved the titles of
-"national championship",
-"most popular participant",
-"championship of the region"
and other kind of awards from competitions. Macau's pre-existing tea culture and the potential of growth within this market has been made evident since then. Xi Jin Ping, "Tea originated in China and will be prevailed to the world", is a statement we echo, promoting tea culture to the world, and contribute into developing a sustainable & thriving tea market in Macau while strengthening the fusion of Chinese and other cultures. Moreover, we will continue to work with corporations from mainland china to support "one belt one road" policy, to promote Macau's economic diversification, and be the base for multicultural coexistence.
