Yesterday, Swedish Ambassador Ola Sohlström, Minister for Environment and Physical Planning Muamet Hoxha, and Deputy Minister Ane Lashkoska visited Национален парк Пелистер / National park Pelister at the invitation of Park Director Ivancho Toshevski.
Director Toshevski presented the park's ongoing and planned activities — including the conservation of the nationally endemic molika pine, fire prevention measures, and awareness-raising efforts that bring the park closer to the public.
Ambassador Sohlström expressed his appreciation for the fruitful collaboration with the Ministry, supported by Swedish funds, spanning waste management, EU approximation on environment, and biodiversity conservation.
The visit concluded with a nature walk through the park's stunning scenery along a newly cleared trail, ending at the small waterfall at Caparska Preseka, close to the village of Capari.
Sweden remains a strong supporter of North Macedonia on its EU accession path — including on enhancing environmental and climate sustainability. 🇸🇪🤝🇲🇰

Come Sunday - the game is on!🥅⚽️
An eight-year wait is over! Sweden are back on the World Cup stage – and it all begins on Sunday (Monday early early in the morning local time) against Tunisia.
Since last time, a new generation of players like Alexander Isak, Anthony Elanga and Viktor Gyökeres has taken over. And we've imported coach Graham Potter from the UK.
Now, our eyes are turned to Monterrey, Mexico, where our journey kicks off.
Let’s go Sweden! 🇸🇪 💛💙

📚 A new chapter begins with a shelf dedicated to Swedish literature — a space for stories that connect cultures.

The Embassy was pleased to donate children’s books and novels, and looking forward to building collaborations that bring communities closer together. 🇲🇰 📚💙🇸🇪

STORIES OF CHANGE: Verica is helping turn energy data into better decisions for energy efficiency .
When Verica Taseska-Gjorgjievska joined the RETScreen Training of Trainers for energy modelling, she was looking to strengthen her technical skills. What she gained was more than that – new confidence and a new way of working.
Moving beyond basic calculations, she now uses advanced energy modelling to analyse renewable energy and energy efficiency projects more effectively. This has led to better energy planning and more informed sustainable energy solutions.
Today, Verica applies her new skills in research and international consultancy at the Macedonian Academy of Sciences and Arts. She is also encouraging young women to trust their knowledge, seek mentorship, and take their place in the field of sustainable energy.
This change is supported by RECONOMY, funded by Sweden and implemented by Helvetas, helping professionals build practical skills for greener and more effective energy solutions.

🌍

👗♻️ Together, we can shape a more sustainable future—one garment at a time.

Caring for the environment takes many forms—and one impactful way is through green and sustainable fashion choices.

Reducing textile waste, upcycling, using natural or innovative materials, applying eco-friendly techniques to extend the life of garments or to creating new and sustainable pieces are all approaches that are steadily gaining momentum among both designers and consumers.

In March, we welcomed 11 designers from five Nordic-Baltic countries and North Macedonia to a design residency programme aimed at exploring both traditional and innovative ways of creating sustainable fashion, as part of the Green and Sustainable Fashion – The Nordic-Baltic Story project.
🎥 Check out the video to learn more.

The outcome of this collaboration—a capsule exhibition—was showcased at Fashion Weekend Skopje and displayed at Diamond Mall, as well as during the Europe Day celebrations in City Park and the Swedish National Day Reception earlier this week.

The project is financed by the The Nordic Council of Ministers and implemented by the Embassy of Sweden in Skopje, in collaboration with the Lietuvos ambasados Skopjės skyrius / Lithuanian Embassy Office in Skopje Norwegian Embassy in Belgrade, Embassy of Denmark in Serbia, and Suomen suurlähetystö Belgrad - Embassy of Finland in Belgrade, in partnership with the Macedonian Fashion Association
