A delegation of Members of Parliament from North Macedonia recently visited the United States through the Open World Exchange Program. They learned about legislative processes at both the federal and state levels in Washington, DC, and Portland, Maine.

In a meeting with the MPs today, Chargé d'Affaires Nicole Varnes learned more about their experience in the U.S. and highlighted the importance of exchanges in building bridges between our countries.

The Open World program is a professional exchange run by the Congressional Office for International Leadership (COIL).

The Macedonian American Alumni Association - MAAA hosted an event to celebrate the results of the 2025 Balkan Alumni Summit, which brought together U.S. exchange program alumni and partner associations from seven Western Balkan countries.

During her address, Chargé d'Affaires Nicole Varnes underlined the success of the Summit in building lasting institutions, connections, results, and partnerships across the region.

The Summit showcased tangible progress in strengthening alumni networks across the Balkans through new and formalized platforms, expanded outreach, and renewed engagement in Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, and Serbia.
