Madagascar - South Africa 🇿🇦🇲🇬

The Ambassador of the Republic of South Africa to Madagascar, HEM Khazamula Lawrence Chabane, met with the Minister of Industrialisation and Private Sector Development, HEM Andriniaina RASOARAHONA, to discuss opportunities for cooperation between both countries.

Both parties agreed to bolster bilateral economic cooperation and contribute towards enhanced regional economic integration for mutual benefit.

Madagascar is open to South African investment and is working to create a favourable and transparent environment for investors.

Ongoing efforts include the publication of the decree implementing the Industrial Development Act and the creation of the National Fund for Industrial Development.

It was an opportunity for a meeting to exchange views on regional and international issues of shared interest.

Senate House Anosikely - November 05, 2025
The Ambassador of the Republic of South Africa to Madagascar, His Excellency Khazamula Chabane, paid a courtesy call on the Acting President of the Senate today in Antananarivo. The meeting provided an opportunity to reaffirm the strong, historic and fraternal relations between South Africa and Madagascar.

Both parties expressed their commitment to deepening cooperation in key sectors including trade, investment, culture, and social development. They underlined their mutual interest in further strengthening bilateral ties for the benefit of the peoples of both nations.

Ambassador Chabane reiterated South Africa’s continued support for Madagascar’s national development efforts, including the country’s ongoing process of national reconciliation and inclusive dialogue.

Furthermore, the Ambassador conveyed that, in its capacity as Deputy Chair of the Southern African Development Community (SADC), South Africa has agreed to temporarily assume Madagascar’s responsibilities as Chair of SADC. This measure reflects the region’s collective support as Madagascar advances its process of national reconstruction and stability, under the leadership of President Michael Randrianirina.

The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to continue close cooperation and to work together to promote political stability, socio-economic development, and regional peace.

The meeting provided an opportunity to explore potential South African investments in Madagascar, particularly in key sectors such as hospitality, energy, tourism, and agro-industry along with the participation of South Africa with the upcoming Investment Forum in November, with a view to strengthening economic cooperation and attracting more bilateral investment.

🇿🇦Today, on Nelson Mandela International Day, the Embassy of the Republic of South Africa, under the leadership of His Excellency Ambassador Khazamula CHABANE, visited the juvenile section of Antanimora Prison in commemoration of this auspicious occasion.

The Embassy was joined by Ms. BELALAHY Hanitriniaina, Secretary General of the Ministry of Justice of Madagascar 🇲🇬, as well as several senior officials from the Malagasy Penitentiary Administration, who graciously welcomed the initiative.

🕊️ This day serves as a powerful reminder of how Nelson Mandela’s compassion, humility, and unwavering courage continue to inspire the world to act with kindness, generosity, and a shared sense of humanity.
