The UN Resident Coordinator Caroline Tissot had a warm and constructive exchange with Prime Minister Milojko Spajić on Montenegro’s path towards EU membership and the country’s sustainable development priorities, including AI and digital transformation.
The Montenegro SDG Acceleration Fund was highlighted as an important platform for connecting national priorities with UN expertise and partnerships.
The UN remains committed to working with Montenegro on innovative, coordinated and sustainable solutions that strengthen institutions and improve people’s lives.

📍 Seeing impact on the ground.

Representatives of the UN Country Team , the Government of Montenegro, the European Union and Austria came together for a field visit to projects supported by the Montenegro SDG Acceleration Fund.

The visit offered an opportunity to see first-hand how locally driven initiatives are translating sustainable development ambitions into tangible results for people and communities across Montenegro, while demonstrating the power of partnership in advancing the Sustainable Development Goals. 🌍

The Montenegro SDG Acceleration Fund brings together the UN, the Government of Montenegro and development partners—the European Union, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Austria and Ireland—to support bold solutions that address complex development challenges and help advance the country's 2030 Agenda.

Remembering means defending truth, honouring the victims, and reaffirming our shared responsibility to protect human rights and prevent atrocities.

Together with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro and partners, the UN marked the International Day of Reflection and Commemoration of the 1995 Genocide in Srebrenica.

✨ UN Women, together with UN agencies and the UN Resident Coordinator, with support from the UK Embassy in Montenegro and participation of key state partners, hosted a dynamic dialogue on transforming care systems in Montenegro last Thursday.
🤝 The discussion brought together policymakers, civil society, and the international community across labour, human rights, demography, social protection, and education.
🌍 As implementation of the Regional Care Action Agenda begins, the dialogue highlighted the importance of intersectoral cooperation to sustain progress and keep the care economy at the center of transformation.
💡 It was concluded that the care economy is not a burden, but a vital investment in social cohesion, equality, and the economic empowerment of women.
