When Daria Friahina first arrived in Kaunas, the city felt almost too quiet.

Compared with Kharkiv, it seemed small. Four years later, she sees it differently.

After completing her bachelor’s degree in Lithuania, studying abroad and gaining professional experience in Dubai and Barcelona, Daria had choices about where to go next.

She chose Kaunas. 🇱🇹🇺🇦

This autumn, she will begin her master’s studies at Kaunas University of Technology.

Daria came to Lithuania after Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine, looking for a safe place to continue her studies.
“Over time, I started liking Kaunas more and more,” she says.

Today, staying in Lithuania is Daria’s choice.

Vilnius-based femtosecond laser manufacturer Litilit has received €8M from Lithuania’s national development bank ILTE Lietuva to develop FEMODA, a modular femtosecond laser system. The total project value has now reached €10 million, with applications ranging from advanced manufacturing to specialised coatings for aircraft and car bodies.

The project comes as Litilit prepares to open a new laser factory in Vilnius this autumn, targeting annual production of up to 3,000 femtosecond lasers – making it one of the largest factories of its kind globally.

After six decades of development, Lithuania’s laser industry now encompasses around 60 companies and more than 2,000 specialists, and continues to expand its global footprint.

Vilnius-based financial infrastructure company Inventi has become the first Swift Business Connect provider in the Baltics.

Its new status enables Inventi to provide banks, electronic money institutions and payment institutions with access to SEPA, TARGET Services and the global Swift network through a single integration with Inventi’s Payments Platform.

The arrival of this new infrastructure offering highlights the continued evolution of Lithuania’s fintech ecosystem – from financial services toward infrastructure that can be exported across Europe and beyond.

La încheierea mandatului său diplomatic în Republica Moldova, Ambasadorului Tadas Valionis i-a fost conferit „Ordinul de Onoare” de către Președinta Republicii Moldova, Maia Sandu.

Distincția reprezintă o recunoaștere a contribuției Ambasadorului Valionis la consolidarea relațiilor dintre Lituania și Moldova, precum și a sprijinului constant acordat parcursului european al Republicii Moldova.

Întrevederea a evidențiat aprofundarea semnificativă a relațiilor moldo-lituaniene în ultimii ani, inclusiv prin intensificarea dialogului politic, schimbul de experiență privind procesul de aderare la Uniunea Europeană și consolidarea cooperării în domeniile rezilienței democratice, combaterii dezinformării și securității cibernetice.

Lituania va continua să fie un partener de încredere al Republicii Moldova, inclusiv în perspectiva Președinției Consiliului UE din prima jumătate a anului 2027.

Cu prilejul încheierii mandatului său în Republica Moldova, Ambasadorul Tadas Valionis a avut o întrevedere de rămas-bun cu Președintele Parlamentului Republicii Moldova, Igor Grosu.

Întrevederea a oferit prilejul unui schimb de opinii privind evoluția relațiilor moldo-lituaniene, cooperarea bilaterală și parcursul european al Republicii Moldova. Oficialii au evidențiat importanța sprijinului reciproc, a dialogului politic constant și a obiectivului comun de a contribui la integrarea europeană a Republicii Moldova.
