The Polish Film Institute (Polski Instytut Sztuki Filmowej) has just announced that the Polish Oscar Committee, selected today “Ojczyzna” (“Fatherland”), directed by acclaimed Polish filmmaker Pawel Pawlikowski, as Poland’s submission for the 99th Academy Awards® The Academy in the category of Best International Feature Film.

The Embassy of Poland in Luxembourg was pleased to take part in the EU Heads of Mission Working Lunch, hosted under the Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

The first lunch featured H.E. Minister Gilles Roth as Guest of Honour and provided an opportunity for an engaging exchange of views on current European affairs.

On 17 September 1939, while Poland had been fighting a defensive war against N**i Germany since 1 September, the Red Army crossed Poland’s eastern border. Poland was attacked by a second aggressor.

The Soviet invasion followed the secret protocol of the Molotov–Ribbentrop Pact, concluded between N**i Germany and the Soviet Union on 23 August 1939. The agreement divided Central and Eastern Europe into German and Soviet spheres of influence and provided for the partition of Polish territory.

The invasion was followed by occupation, repression, arrests and mass deportations of Polish citizens to the Soviet interior, including Siberia.

We are delighted to invite you to a unique carillon concert with Polish carillonneur Anna Kasprzycka carillon, presented by MUDAM Luxembourg as part of Dodeka – 12 Works for 12 Cantons — at the historic centre of Echternach.

On 20 September, Polish carillonneur Anna Kasprzycka performs at Trifolion in Echternach in response to Edith Dekyndt’s ‘Provisory Object 03’, presented as part of ‘Dodeka: 12 Works for 12 Cantons’.

The programme brings together music by women composers and Anna Kasprzycka’s own improvisations, creating a unique dialogue between sound, space and the passage of time.

After the concert, Anna will invite the audience to discover the carillon of the Basilica of Echternach — a rare opportunity to see this extraordinary instrument. Getting there is an experience in itself: the journey takes you 118 steps up the tower, including a walk along a special passageway above the main nave, over the church vaults, before reaching the carillon

Today, 16 September, marks the start of the 86th edition of Luxembourg’s major cycling race. Over 5 days, until 20 September, riders will compete across 5 stages covering more than 700 km throughout the country.

⚠️ Please note that the race may cause temporary traffic restrictions and difficulties accessing the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Luxembourg, particularly during the stages passing through the capital.

Some Ukrainian children arrived in Poland carrying more than a backpack. They also carry fear. Trauma. Silence.

🏫 At 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗘𝘅𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗼𝗿𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 in Józefów near Warsaw, around 200 children with disabilities – including 40 from Ukraine – learn, heal, and grow together. Since 2022, Ukrainian-speaking teachers and a Ukrainian psychotherapist have helped children who fled the war feel safe, understood, and included.

💬 "Some children who arrived unable to walk or speak now move independently and communicate. That's our greatest success," says the school's director, Izabela Popławska.

Here, Polish and Ukrainian staff work side by side to give every child the care, warmth, and support they deserve. Because resilience grows where people care for one another. 🇵🇱🤝🇺🇦
