The first International Space Summit opened on Sept 9 in Paris, bringing together leaders, scientists, astronauts, and industry representatives. Shan Zhongde, head of the China National Space Administration, led a Chinese delegation to the summit.

During the event, Shan held bilateral meetings with representatives from France, Egypt, South Africa, and other countries to discuss practical cooperation in the space sector and explore new opportunities for international collaboration.

Chinese companies are strongly opposed to any measures that would exclude or restrict third-country companies from participating in EU public procurement on the basis of so-called non-market factors, such as the country of origin of the company, including where such measures are justified on grounds of economic security or reducing supply chain dependencies, a Chinese business chamber in the Europe said on Sept 9.

It is hoped that "the new public procurement framework will further enhance market transparency, predictability and regulatory clarity, while providing a fair and stable environment for companies of all origins to participate in public procurement," the chamber said.

China never "pulls up the ladder" for any country's development, instead it strives to build ladders through efforts including the Belt and Road Initiative, technology sharing, and zero tariffs, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning said on Sept 9, refuting claims that China is impeding Global South countries' development.
