Happy Feast Day of Fr. Michael Sopoćko. Let us pray for his intercession that we may become more merciful and someday know the Unfathomable Mercy of Jesus.

Today, February 15, is the Feast Day of Blessed Fr. Michael Sopoćko, who's faithful and hard work is the reason the world knows about what happened in Vilnius (Lithuania) in the 1930's when a young Sister Faustina was receiving visions of Jesus Himself. Fr. Michael, Sr. Faustina's confessor and spiritual director insisted that she write down all that was happening in a diary. Despite being sought after by the KGB and the Gestapo, he managed to teach the Catechism of the Catholic Church underground during the occupations of Vilnius by various communist regimes. In 1947 he escaped to Bialłystok (Poland) where he lived out the rest of his days inventing new ways to propagate the truth about the Unfathomable Mercy of Jesus, including printing leaflets, composing prayers, and ever-insisting that we return to the Original Divine Mercy painting, saying, "there was only one painting, the one by Kazimirowski, that was painted according to the instructions of Sister Faustina.” Let us pray for his intercession and canonization on his feast day, that all the world would come to know and live the Divine Mercy of Jesus in their lives.

There are not many photos of Fr. Sopocko's Hideout in Juodšiliai so we are asking that if you make it out to this remote and peaceful place that you send us your photos. We anticipate that someday this building will become a museum of sorts open to all pilgrims who make the journey.
