Ministry of Health Donates Cancer Drugs to JFK Medical Center
(Monrovia, Liberia, June 5, 2026)—The Ministry of Health has donated a consignment of chemotherapeutic drugs to the John F. Kennedy Medical Center’s oncology department, for cancer treatment.
Presenting the supplies, Dr Teyah Sackie Moore, acting Chief Medical Officer of the Republic of Liberia, underscored the life-saving role of the drugs.
“We are prepared to help people with cancer; we stand with you as a government, and as a ministry,” he said, pledging the ministry’s continued support for patients battling the disease.
Receiving the donation, JFK’s Chief Medical Officer, Dr J Emmanuel Tamba, expressed gratitude to the ministry’s leadership, headed by Dr Louise Mapleh Kpoto.
He noted that the intervention would ease the financial burden on patients. “Cancer treatment has been a challenge as many patients are unable to pay. The government’s intervention is timely, and we are thankful for the donation, which will be used for its intended purpose,” he said.
Dr Deddeh E P Supuwood, Medical Oncologist at JFK, said the oncology department had seen a surge in patients since its opening. She added that the donated drugs would strengthen the hospital’s capacity to deliver effective treatment.
