The Government of Liberia, through the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI), in collaboration with the Liberia Investment, Finance and Trade Project (LIFT-P), with funding from the World Bank, has commenced implementation of the Liberia Trade Information Portal (LTIP) Projectโa major step toward modernizing Liberiaโs trade environment and making essential trade information more accessible to the public.
The LTIP will establish a centralized, web-based platform designed to provide traders, importers, exporters, investors, businesses, and the general public with reliable, accurate, and up-to-date information on trade-related laws, regulations, procedures, fees, forms, licenses, permits, approvals, and other requirements governing commercial activities in Liberia.
As part of the implementation process, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, in collaboration with ECORYS UK Limited and its Partner (Tribe), is engaging relevant Ministries, Agencies, Commissions, and other key stakeholders involved in trade regulation, administration, and facilitation. This inclusive approach is intended to ensure that the portal reflects the actual needs of businesses and stakeholders while providing comprehensive information across Liberiaโs trade ecosystem.
The implementation of the LTIP represents an important milestone in Liberiaโs efforts to improve transparency, simplify trade procedures, reduce the cost and time associated with doing business, and strengthen trade facilitation. By making critical trade information available through a single, accessible online platform, the initiative is expected to reduce information gaps, improve compliance, and make it easier for businessesโespecially Micro, Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (MSMEs)โto navigate Liberiaโs regulatory and trade environment.
Ultimately, the Liberia Trade Information Portal is more than a digital platform; it is an important instrument for building a more transparent, predictable, efficient, and business-friendly trade environment. The initiative aligns with Liberiaโs broader economic transformation agenda and demonstrates the Governmentโs commitment to leveraging digital solutions to promote investment, facilitate trade, empower businesses, and create greater opportunities for sustainable economic growth.
