The Ministry of Posts & Telecommunications is the Government of Liberia institution responsible to develop and promote a people-friendly postal industry and set the agenda of ICT and Telecommunications in Liberia. The Ministry of Post of Posts and Telecommunications was established in 1956 initially mandated by an act of the Liberian Legislature to carry out Postal Services across the length and b

President Joseph Nyuma Boakai Launches Liberia Digital Village Program in Foya, Lofa County

Foya, Lofa County – The Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications is pleased to announce the official launch of the Liberia Digital Village Program by His Excellency President Joseph Nyuma Boakai in Foya District, Lofa County.

The initiative, Themed “Connecting for a Brighter Future,” is a flagship project aimed at bridging the digital divide, promoting inclusive development, and accelerating Liberia’s digital transformation agenda.

The first Digital Village under this program has been successfully established in Foya, Lofa County.
This transformative project is being implemented through a strategic partnership between the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications, the Liberia Telecommunications Authority (LTA), and leading Chinese technology company Huawei Technologies.

During the launch ceremony, President Boakai commended the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications and the LTA for their dedication and vision in driving the country’s digital agenda.

The President specifically praised the efforts of former LTA Chairman, Mr. Kamara, and the Minister of Posts and Telecommunications, Hon. Kromah, for co-founding and championing this important initiative.

Minister of Posts and Telecommunications, Hon. Kromah, expressed deep appreciation to President Boakai for his unwavering support and visionary leadership, which have been critical to advancing Liberia’s digital revolution.

The Ministry is excited about the coming days as we officially hand over this project to ensure its proper management and sustainability,” said Hon. Kromah.

“This initiative will not only connect communities but also create new opportunities for education, healthcare, commerce, and innovation in rural Liberia.

The Liberia Digital Village Program will deliver reliable high-speed internet connectivity, digital skills training, and a wide range of technology-enabled services to underserved communities across the country.

It stands as a key milestone in the Government of Liberia’s commitment to building a modern, digitally empowered, and inclusive nation.

The Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications remains committed to expanding the Digital Village Program to other counties in the near future.

Breaking News: President Boakai Breaks Ground on Key Lofa Highway and Dedicates Liberia’s First Digital Village

Lofa County, Liberia — President Joseph Nyuma Boakai today broke ground for the upgrading of the 86km Voinjama to Mendikorma Highway in Lofa County, a major infrastructure push to improve connectivity and economic activity in the region.

In the same visit, the President is expected to officially dedicate Liberia’s first-ever Digital Village in Foya, marking a significant milestone in the country’s digital transformation efforts.

The developments underscore the government’s commitment to both physical and digital infrastructure in rural Liberia.

The Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications, on behalf of the Government of Liberia, proudly joined the global community today in commemorating World Telecommunication and Information Society Day.

This annual observance highlights the transformative power of information and communication technologies (ICTs) in fostering sustainable development and bridging the digital divide.

Today we convened a high-level celebration in collaboration with key stakeholders in the Liberian telecommunications sector, including:

• LTC Mobile
• Orange GSM Liberia
• Lonestar Cell MTN
• Telecel Liberia
• PowerNet
• Connect and Csquared

The event took place at the Corina Hotel, 26th Street, Monrovia, bringing together government officials, industry leaders, regulators, development partners, and technology enthusiasts to reflect on the critical role of telecommunications in national development.

This year’s global theme, “Digital Lifelines – Strengthening Resilience in a Connected World”, resonated deeply with Liberia’s ongoing efforts to build a robust, inclusive, and resilient digital ecosystem.

The theme underscores the importance of reliable digital infrastructure in times of crisis, the need for strengthened cybersecurity, and the imperative to expand connectivity to underserved communities across the country.

In a remark, the Honorable Minister of Posts and Telecommunications Sekou Kromah emphasized the Government’s commitment to expanding broadband access, promoting digital literacy, and creating an enabling environment for innovation and investment in the sector.

Stakeholders also used the occasion to reaffirm their dedication to collaboration, infrastructure sharing, and the delivery of affordable, high-quality services to all Liberians.

The Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications today received a high-level ECOWAS Monitoring and Evaluation Team for a comprehensive inspection of the newly established, state-of-the-art Forensic Laboratory located at the Police Academy.

The visit underscores the Ministry’s strategic commitment to strengthening national and regional cybersecurity architecture in line with the ECOWAS Cybersecurity Strategy.

The delegation toured the advanced facility, equipped with cutting-edge digital forensic tools, real-time threat monitoring systems, sophisticated incident response capabilities, and specialized training infrastructure.

This world-class laboratory significantly enhances the country’s ability to investigate cybercrimes, recover digital evidence, analyze threats, and defend against emerging cyber risks.

The Honourable Minister of Posts and Telecommunications welcomed the team and reaffirmed the Ministry’s dedication to digital security excellence.

Liberia Advances Digital Transformation
e-Liberia Platform Onboarding Begins Under World Bank GREAT Project

Monrovia, Liberia April 29, 2026

Senior government officials today concluded a landmark full-day technical consultation at the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications to onboard key public services onto the e-Liberia Platform and integrate them with the Government Service Bus (GSB).

The meeting, held under the World Bank-backed GREAT Project, brought together representatives from the Ministries of Health, Local Government, Education, Labor, Foreign Affairs, Justice, Information Culture and Tourism, as well as the Liberia Immigration Service, Liberia National Police, and the Center for National Documents and Records Agency.

Discussions focused on connecting essential services including civil registration, passports, health records, education certificates, police information, and more into one secure, efficient digital platform.

This initiative aims to reduce paperwork, speed up service delivery, and improve access for all Liberians.
The e-Liberia Platform is set to transform public service delivery, bringing greater efficiency, transparency, and convenience to citizens.
