Building Confident and Peaceful Young Leaders

The Ministry Of Gender, Children And Social Protection-Liberia (MGCSP), through the Liberia Women Empowerment Project, is strengthening the confidence, leadership and life skills of adolescents and young people through the Champion of Change Club Module.

Confidence is not only about speaking loudly, it is about knowing your worth, communicating respectfully and standing up for what is right.

Under the leadership of MGCSP, the module will help young people set life goals, communicate assertively, resist negative peer pressure, establish healthy boundaries and resolve disagreements peacefully.

These practical skills will prepare club members to become confident learners, responsible leaders and champions of peace in their schools, families and communities.

MGCSP remains committed to creating safe and supportive opportunities where every young person can learn, speak, lead and inspire positive change.

Every young person has a voice. Every voice can inspire change.

LWEP Launches Women Employment & Empowerment Taskforce

Wednesday, August 26, 2026: The Ministry Of Gender, Children And Social Protection-Liberia, through it’s Liberia Women Empowerment Project (LWEP), has launched the Liberia Women Employment and Empowerment Taskforce, a strategic platform bringing government, private sector, civil society and development partners together to expand meaningful employment and economic opportunities for women.

The Taskforce will complement LWEP’s livelihood and cash grant interventions by strengthening market linkages, inclusive sourcing, mentorships, internships and partnerships that can help women move from receiving support to accessing sustainable markets, jobs and business opportunities.

Assistant Minister for Gender, Hon. Ophelia Kennedy, emphasized that the Taskforce is about action:

“This Taskforce is about action. It is about ensuring that Liberian women, whether in the city or in the villages, have access to training, jobs, and the support they need to build businesses.”

With a broader goal of building a sustainable national platform for women’s employment, economic empowerment and responsible investment, the Taskforce will identify barriers, develop actionable strategies, promote gender-inclusive practices and strengthen collaboration for lasting impact.

Already, LWEP has supported 418 women-led businesses with over One Million United States dollars in cash grants benefiting more than 9,000 individuals across 498 communities in six counties.

Together, we are connecting women to opportunities not just grants, but markets, jobs, investment and sustainable livelihoods.

For these women, the support is more than a grant, it is hope becoming reality and a promise being fulfilled.
