The Group of 77, through its Health Services Department, last Thursday conducted a health outreach for Annex 2 members and community dwellers on Randall Street.

The outreach provided health education on malaria and STIs, alongside screening, treatment and prevention services.

Ms. Fatu Sirleaf, Head of Health Services at the Group of 77, led the health team in delivering the outreach.

The strong turnout, especially among children, made the exercise a success and reflects the Group of 77’s commitment to promoting health, inclusion and the wellbeing of its members and the wider community.

MONROVIA – The Group of 77 Disabled Center and the Environmental Protection Agency - EPA of Liberia have agreed to deepen their working relationship following a courtesy meeting held today at the EPA headquarters in Monrovia.

A delegation from the Group of 77, headed by Senior Administrator Mr. Raymond Kolubah Zarbay, was received by the EPA's Deputy Executive Director for Administration, Mr. Anthony Kollie, and members of the Agency's senior management team. The delegation included Senior Special Assistant Joseph M. D. Johnson, Senior Programs Officer Andreas Lomax, and County Programs Officer Madam Agatha Y. Borbor.

The meeting was in response to a formal request from the Group of 77 seeking collaboration on environmental sustainability, climate resilience, and disability inclusion.

Mr. Zarbay, who led the delegation on behalf of Madam Synleseh Stephenie Dahn Koung-Second Lady, Republic of Liberia and Executive Director of the Group of 77 Disabled Center - Liberia , expressed gratitude to the EPA for its continued support. He specifically acknowledged the Agency's waiver of the environmental permit fee for the Kpekor Project in Brewerville City, which is envisioned as a future home for persons with disabilities, as well as the recommendation of qualified environmental consultants to advance the project.

The Group of 77 commended the EPA for the recent dedication of its permanent headquarters and its modern environmental laboratory, describing these milestones as evidence of visionary leadership and sound institutional management under Executive Director Dr. Emmanuel K. Urey Yarkpawolo.

Both institutions agreed to convene a follow-up meeting at the Group of 77 Disabled Center, where further areas of cooperation will be explored, with the EPA Executive Director expected to attend. Key proposed areas of collaboration include accessible environmental information for persons with disabilities, climate resilience training, disaster preparedness, green livelihood opportunities, and integrating disability inclusion into environmental programs.

The engagement concluded with both parties reaffirming their commitment to a partnership that advances inclusive development and ensures that the needs of persons with disabilities are reflected in environmental planning and climate action.

MONROVIA, LIBERIA – August 11, 2026:

The Office of the Second Lady of Liberia, through the Group of 77, held a strategic engagement with the Forum for African Women Educationalists (FAWE) Liberia on August 10, 2026, to explore opportunities for persons living with disabilities and other underserved groups to benefit from education, skills development, and empowerment initiatives.

The meeting, held at the FAWE Liberia Office in Sinkor, focused particularly on the FAWE Mastercard Foundation Second Chance Pathways Programme, which is providing fully funded opportunities for eligible young people to pursue university and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) pathways.

For the 2026/2027 academic year, the programme will provide 650 fully funded bursaries, with five percent of the available opportunities designated for persons with disabilities, alongside provisions for females and refugees. Eligible offspring and caregivers of persons living with disabilities may also benefit, subject to the programme's established eligibility criteria.

The engagement also provided an opportunity to discuss the broader FAWE Mastercard Foundation Project, a US$14 million Phase II initiative being implemented across 10 African countries, with a focus on expanding opportunities for women, girls, and underserved populations.

FAWE Liberia Country Director, Mr. Millias Z. Sheriff, and Madam Emily Gumba, Senior Program Officer at the FAWE Regional Secretariat, welcomed the engagement and expressed support for strengthening collaboration with the Office of the Second Lady and the Group of 77 led by Mr. Stephen T. Kumorteh (Programs Specialist), and accompanied by Mr. Clifford Payne (Deputy Public Relations Director), and Mrs. Agatha Y. Borbor (Programs County Officer).

Mr. Sheriff welcomed the proposal for both institutions to explore a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a structured framework for collaboration in areas including Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLA), teacher training, inclusive education, skills development, entrepreneurship, and financial empowerment.

A key outcome of the engagement was FAWE's commitment to explore additional support for sign language interpreter training and assistive devices to strengthen accessibility and participation of persons living with disabilities in relevant programmes.

FAWE also expressed its intention to include the Office of the Second Lady within the national level stakeholder and coordination structure of the Second Chance Pathways Programme, creating an opportunity for the Office to contribute to programme discussions, coordination, and strategic decision making.

The Office of the Second Lady welcomed these commitments and emphasized the importance of ensuring that persons living with disabilities are not only included in development programmes but are provided with the necessary support to participate meaningfully and achieve sustainable outcomes.

The Office further called on eligible persons living with disabilities, their caregivers, offspring, and other qualified beneficiaries to take advantage of the available opportunities and complete the application process within the August 2026 deadline.

The engagement forms part of the Office of the Second Lady's broader commitment to advancing inclusive development, economic empowerment, education, skills development, and equal opportunities for persons living with disabilities and other vulnerable populations across Liberia.

Monrovia, Liberia – July 17, 2026 – A high level technical delegation from the Group of 77 Disabled Center has completed its learning and strategic coordination tour of the Kingdom of Morocco and is scheduled to return to Liberia in the coming days. The five member team, led by Senior Administrator Raymond Zarbay and Program Specialist Stephen Kumorteh, spent several intensive days conducting site assessments and institutional exchanges with Morocco's leading social development organizations.

The mission, facilitated and sponsored entirely by the Moroccan Agency for International Cooperation (AMCI), follows the initial engagement between AMCI and the Group of 77 Executive Director, Madam Synleseh Stephenie Dahn Koung-Second Lady, Republic of Liberia, during the StartUp Grow Foundation Women's Summit in June 2025. This visit marks a significant shift from traditional welfare approaches toward sustainable economic empowerment models for disability inclusion in West Africa. The visit was championed by His Excellency Joseph F. Johnson, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Liberia to the Kingdom of Morocco.

The four day technical mission yielded immediate commitments across three primary sectors. In deaf education and specialized healthcare, the delegation partnered with the Foundation Lalla Asmae for Deaf Children and secured a commitment to support cochlear implant surgeries for 10 Liberian children, subject to localized medical coordination. Morocco will also host and train Liberian instructors in specialized speech therapy and American Sign Language, while supplying crucial assistive devices to the Group of 77.

In socio economic empowerment and justice, the delegation partnered with the National Union of Moroccan Women to study Morocco's successful transition of vulnerable populations from welfare dependency to market ready entrepreneurship, focusing on vocational training and high quality product packaging. In mental health and neurodivergent integration, the delegation partnered with the Association for Medical and Mental Disability Integration to observe groundbreaking Moroccan models where individuals with intellectual disabilities are fully rehabilitated, educated, and integrated into competitive corporate roles.

To guarantee that the knowledge gained translates into immediate impact, both parties have agreed on the following next steps: an expert reciprocal visit, the establishment of a joint bilateral framework agreement, and the formation of a technical working group comprising AMCI, the Group of 77, and diplomatic focal points to ensure the quick implementation of all commitments. The Liberian delegation expressed profound gratitude to His Majesty King Mohammed VI, the leadership of AMCI, and the people of Morocco for their exceptional hospitality and unmatched spirit of pan African solidarity.

The delegation also praised the tireless efforts of the Embassy of Liberia in Morocco and Ambassador Johnson for their instrumental role in making this visit possible. This landmark mission supports the Group of 77's ambitious development of a 10.8 acre inclusive residential, educational, and medical hub in Montserrado County.

Monrovia, Liberia – July 15, 2026 – A five member delegation from the Group of 77 Disabled Center is currently undertaking a learning mission to the Kingdom of Morocco from July 13 to July 17, 2026. The delegation, led by Senior Administrator Mr. Raymond Kolubah Zarbay, is visiting Morocco at the invitation of the Moroccan Agency for International Cooperation (AMCI) to exchange best practices on disability inclusion and explore models for empowering persons with disabilities across the Global South. This visit follows the fruitful collaboration initiated during the StartUp Grow Foundation Women's Summit in June 2025, where the Group of 77 Executive Director, Madam Synleseh Stephenie Dahn Koung-Second Lady, Republic of Liberia , connected with AMCI Director General Ambassador Mohamed Methqal and secured the invitation for this learning mission. The delegation is being hosted by AMCI, which is covering all travel and logistical arrangements, reflecting Morocco's deep commitment to South South cooperation and inclusive social development.

During the weeklong mission, the delegation is engaging in working sessions and site visits across Rabat and Tangier, including an in depth session at the Lalla Asmae Foundation for Deaf Children, a renowned institution established in 1975 by Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Asmae. The delegation is also scheduled to meet with senior officials from the National Union of Moroccan Women (UNFM) for high level dialogue on social inclusion and gender equality. This landmark visit marks a significant step in strengthening the partnership between Liberia and Morocco and is expected to spark transformative initiatives that will improve the lives of persons with disabilities in Liberia and across the Global South.

‎Group of 77 Holds Strategic Meeting on Empower Her Project Graduation Process

‎The Group of 77 convened a strategic meeting at its headquarters on Newport Street, Monrovia, to discuss key organizational matters, with special emphasis on preparations for the graduation ceremony of participants in the Empower Her Project. The meeting was chaired by Mr. Stephen Kumorteh and attended by staff members and representatives of the organization's women's leadership.

‎Among the major issues discussed was the preparation for the graduation process for physically challenged women and girls who completed four months of vocational skills training under the Empower Her Project. The initiative was launched through the Office of the Second Lady of the Republic of Liberia, Her Honor Madam Synleseh Stephanie Dahn Koung, with the objective of empowering women and girls with disabilities through practical skills development and economic empowerment.

‎Speaking during the meeting, Mr. Kumatieh commended all the women and girls with disabilities who remained committed throughout the four-month vocational training program. He praised their determination, resilience, and dedication, noting that their successful completion of the training demonstrates their readiness to become self-reliant and productive members of society.

‎The Group of 77 convened a strategic meeting with members of the disability community as part of activities marking Liberia's 179th Independence Day celebration. The meeting was attended by the Senior Administrative Assistant, Mr. Raymond K. Zarbay, the National Coordinator, Mr. Francis Sebley, and the Residence Supervisor, Mr. J. Emmanuel Kpleh.

‎The meeting focused on issues affecting the general welfare of persons with disabilities and provided an opportunity for engagement on matters of mutual concern. During the gathering, Mr. Zarbay conveyed Independence Day greetings to the disability community on behalf of the Second Lady of the Republic of Liberia and Executive Director of the Group of 77, Madam Synleseh Stephanie Dahn Koung, reaffirming her continued commitment to promoting the well-being and inclusion of persons with disabilities across Liberia.
