Subject : POSSA Elections
Whereas, the Political Science Students Association (POSSA) is recognized by the faculty of the University of Liberia, and shall commit itself to the well-being of all POSSA members and shall remain prime interest by organizing, uniting and fostering the agenda of students in the department without any precondition or whatsoever.
Whereas, POSSA is expected, in keeping with its by-laws and constitution, to undergo a democratic transition through a free, fair, and transparent elections process; and the President and his team of officials will have a tenure of two semesters as prescribed in the constitution of POSSA. The President shall appoint and constitute an election commission that would impartially and objectively conduct said elections within the fourth week before the start of the final exam in every second semester of the academic calendar.
Whereas, the Elections Commission reserves all right to draw up its time-table and election guidelines, and subsequently publish same for public consumption in an effort to afford all interested aspirants equal access to information and equal chances to succeed;
We, now therefore, present to you the following:
GENERAL ELIGIBILITY
1. All aspirants must apply through the commission for their respective posts of interests.
2. All aspirants must be a registered student reading Political Science Major or Minor
3. All aspirants must accumulate a GPA of not less than 2.5 from the previous semester.
4. Each aspirant must be in current standing with the University of Liberia which qualifies him or her to contest.
5. POSSA members interested in aspiring for any of the elective posts must meet the following qualifications:
PRESIDENT
1. Must be a senior student who is majoring in Political Science.
2. Must have a GPA of not less than 2.5
3. Must have a good moral conduct.
4. Must not have received suspension from POSSA, due to any misconduct in the premises of the University or outside of campus.
5. Must possess all rights enlisted in the approved Constitution of the Political Science Students Association.
VICE PRESIDENT
1. The Vice President shall be required to possess all qualifications as the president except that he/she shall be a junior student or above.
SECRETARY GENERAL
1. He/she must be a junior student or above and majoring in Political Science.
2. Must be computer literate and possess good communication skills in both oral and written English
3. Must possess all rights enlisted in the approved Constitution of POSSA.
4. Must possess a GPA of not less than 2.5
FINANCIAL SECRETARY
a. He/ she must be a sophomore student or above and must be majoring or minoring in Political Science.
b. He/she must possess a little knowledge in Bookkeeping or a practical financial knowledge and must have a GPA of not less than 2.5
c. Must have absolutely no record of the following vices:
1. Financial Criminality
2. Financial Misfeasance
3. Financial Malfeasance
4. Financial Nonfeasance
TREASURER
a. He/she shall be a sophomore student or above majoring in Political Science
b. He/she be in good moral standing and have a GPA of not less than 2.5
c. Must have absolutely no record of the following vices:
1. Financial Criminality
2. Financial Misfeasance
3. Financial Malfeasance
4. Financial Nonfeasance
CHAPLAIN
a. He/she must be a sophomore student or above and must be majoring or a minor student in Political Science.
b. He/she must be in good moral standing and have a GPA of not less than 2.5.
c. He/she must be an evangelist or a praying person.
TERM OF OFFICE
All elected officials shall serve for two (2) semesters and said official shall be eligible to succeed him/herself for not more than two terms provided if he or she is still a student and meet the requirements as prescribed in the constitution.
REGISTRATION FEES
All candidates aspiring for the above mentioned positions for the upcoming Political Science Students Association elections must pay a non-refundable fee to the election commission with proper accountability.

CALENDAR OF EVENTS
July 21-27, 2018: Official declaration of vacancies, awareness and application for positions.
July 28-30, 2018: interview and registration of candidates.
July 31,-August 6, 2018: Voters registration.
August 7-11, 2018: Final candidates listing and official declaration of campaign.
August 10, 2018: Debate and voter awareness.
August 13, 2018: Campaign closes
August 14, 2018 elections day.
Note: No aspirant will be allowed to interact with voters after the campaign has been declared officially closed.
a. All voters are requested to please make available their control sheet, recent grade sheet or valid ID cards during elections. In addition to the listed requirements above, the commission will produce voter registration cards for elections.
b. All POSSA members wanting to take part in the elections should be cleared with the University of Liberia in terms of tuition and fees.
