A CONGRATULATORY MESSAGE TO HIS EXCELLENCY PRESIDENT JOSEPH NYUMA BOAKAI, SR. ON HIS INTERVENTION AT THE UNIVERSITY OF LIBERIA:

On behalf of MENTOR LIBERIA, I extend our warmest congratulations and deepest appreciation for the timely and decisive intervention of His Excellency, President Joseph Nyuma Boakai regarding the renovation and modernization of the University of Liberia campuses.

The directive of August 4, 2026 to accelerate rehabilitation works, and the convening of key Ministries, the University Administration, and the Board of Trustees, demonstrates true leadership and commitment to education under the ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development. The allocation and processing of approximately US$6.3 million, and the insistence on visible progress, sends a clear message that Liberia’s premier public university must reflect the dignity, safety, and quality our students and faculty deserve.

We especially commend the call for collaboration, for removing administrative bottlenecks, and for prioritizing urgent works affecting student safety such as roofing, water, sanitation, and structural facilities. The establishment of the joint technical team and Coordination Committee co-chaired by the Ministry of Public Works and UL Administration is a significant step toward accountability and progress.

An Appeal to All Stakeholders:

In the spirit of progress and development through the intervention of His Excellency, we call on the University Administration, the Board of Trustees, the Faculty Association, students, alumni, and all partners to embrace this moment as a turning point. Please, let us choose "DIALOGUE OVER DISTANCE, SERVICE OVER SILENCE, AND DEVELOPMENT OVER DEADLOCK."

A standoff only delays the dreams of over 18,000 students. But dialogue builds solutions. Service protects the future. Development strengthens the nation.

We therefore appeal to all parties to return to the table, to work collaboratively, and to prioritize the students and the future of Liberia. When the University of Liberia is strong, Liberia is stronger.

President Boakai's intervention is a "BIG PLUS" to the government’s commitment to education. Let all the other stakeholders of the University play their contributive roles for progress and development in Liberia.

May God continue to bless the President with more wisdom to lead, grace to serve, and provision to sustain this noble work.

With the highest respect and patriotic support,

Rev. J. Andrew Lablah
